Varavon’s New Video Skate Slider
Varavon has released their newest product, the Skate Slider for shooting video. This is a marriage of the slider and a skater all in one product with added features and functions.

This is a smaller and lighter slider with wheels that can be detached or repositioned. The repositioning allows you to change the radius of wheel turning on the skater slider for tighter or more expanded turns.

The Skate Slider also has ports at the ends and on the trolly so you can thread on accessories or attach the slider to tripods or light stands for vertical shots.

It’ll be interesting to see footage of it in action.
It’s kind of funny how quickly Varavon jumped onto this idea, which was a Kickstarter project not long ago.
I wonder how this compares to the Camerar unit Emm links to over at cheesycam.com. The slider on this unit looks nicer, but the rest of the Camerar unit looks better and cheeper ($150 or so).
@Scott I have not used either (yet) so it remains to be seen!
Does anyone know if the skater slider has a roller bearing like the slidecam lite or if it has a friction based slider? I just ordered one assuming the slider was the same as the slidecam lite but i don’t see any marketing info on if it uses ball bearings or not..
@Rishio I want to say it is a roller bearing slider, but I’m not certain yet. I will email Varavon directly now and get back to you asap.
Thanks! I just cancelled my order and I’m waiting to hear what you find out..
@Rishio “Our Skater Slider is roller bearing based.” From Varavon
Thanks a lot! I’m ordering it again – but through your site
One more note for others – the slider from kamerar is drylin friction based and I heard from a friend experienced with sliders that you don’t want to get that..
rishio, the Kamerar is friction based, but it is not an IGUS or Drylin product.
@Rishio Thank you! Glad I was able to help out.
I wonder if the wheels will be sold separately to use on my slidecam lite?
@Bill Let me get the details on this for you.
Thanks, it would be nice if the wheels could be purchased separately, instead of buying a new slider too.
