Varavon Slidecam Lite Modifications
Varavon has improved their Slidecam Lite Slider by resolving some minor issues that now make the newest version even better. In the video above I compare their original Slidecam Lite rail design that was equipped with a passthrough 1/4-20″ and 3/8-20″ hole to their newest design which leaves the slider rail as a single solid metal piece with the 1/4-20″ and 3/8-20″ threads at a dedicated base plate for mounting. In the original version, the holes could pose as a problem when the older braking system was sitting low. Another Slidecam Lite update is the placement of the brake. Now, the carrier brake pad is located on the outside of the trolley which is easier to access.
I shot this video in Maui this February with the Sony NEX-7 on a Slidecam Lite.

The Slidecam Lite is one of the smoothest, most affordable, and most portable little sliders on the market. The Slidecam Lite is available in 24″ (2 feet) and 32″. You can find the Varavon Slidecam Lite following the link (click here).

In the sample video, where you were using the slider …did you slow down the motion in post edit? …or did you truly slide the DSLR that slowly? I was impressed with the results …nice slider-demo video sample.
Hi Martin, you can always control the speed of the slide with your own hands.. practice makes this perfect! Some footage was slowed down in post in this video though.
” In the original version, the holes could pose as a problem when the older braking system was sitting low” thats a major problem with mine and varavon has not responded to me, any news/possible on trade in credit?
Sorry jodydb, you would have to contact Varavon. I haven’t heard about a trade in credit program. It’s only a minor nuisance if you have it sit low, but we’ve been accustomed to just giving it a few extra turns before using.
Contact me at johnny@varavon.com with your contact information and we’ll send you the dedicated plate that you saw above in Olivia’s video.
Sincerely,
Johnny Park
Beautiful camera movements! This thing looks pretty cool.
Cheers!
Thank you, as always, Olivia. And wow that rock on your hand is huge! I was looking at that the whole time..
