Varavon Skate Slider for DSLR and Compact Cameras
Varavon’s Skate Slider is a slider and a dolly all in one compact package. This unit is great for portable shooting, as it’s lightweight at 3.2lbs. and only 19″ in length.
The location of the wheels can be adjusted to move closer together or further apart to create tighter or wider curved rotation-angle movements. I found that the Skate Slider really was a simple tool for product videos in the studio. I was able to create dynamic product shots with limited table space, an easy setup and no additional gear. You can also take the wheels off of the unit completely and attach the slider onto a tripod for vertical, slanted or horizontal slides.

The body of the slider itself and the trolley on the Skate Slider are exactly the same build as what you would get on the Slidecam Lite Series, however this slider is shorter at 19″ compared to the Slidecam Lite 600 at 24″. There are 1/4-20″ ports to attach accessories and friction arms onto both the slider and the trolley.

You can find the Skate Slider on Varavon’s website where they detail all of the parts and approximate measurements of the Skate Slider.

Varavon Slidecam Lite 24″ and 32″ Portable Video Slider

So this, or the Kamerar Slider Dolly SD-1. Pretty much the same thing. Does the Varavon use bearings like the slidecam lite? If it does, it may be the way to go due to its potential ability to carry heavier loads. I’ve seen on a youtube review that the SD-1 tilts a bit if you load it up too much. For the small price of the Kamerar, it might be the best option for budget shooters. Thoughts?
@Steven The Varavon Skate Slider uses roller bearings. The Kamerar Slider Dolly SD-1 is a friction based slider. I have not used the Kamerar slider yet though so I can’t give honest feedback yet.
I have the 19″ slider but don’t have the wheels can I purchase the wheels separately? Thanks
@Jeff Not that I know of. If you contact Varavon, they may have some information to help you though, as they’re usually very response and accommodating to their customers.
Jeff,
Please email us for more details. Let’s see if we can work on that.

@PETOM I just emailed Varavon regarding this. It seems that quite a few people are in the same boat as you. I will see if they have future plans to accomodate.
It looks like the Rokinon/Bower/Samyang cine lenses (35/85mm) appear a lot in your vids and seems useful! Even though they’re pretty much the same thing, which do you prefer? Sorry I posted this on YT and here.
@Maximilian We are mostly use Canon and Rokinon glass for the OTech videos you see. I don’t really have a preference at this point.
