Top 10 DSLR Video Books
Helpful reference books are powerful tools when you want to expand your skills sets. The purpose of a blog like mine is to help you guys and myself to grow our talents. Aside from the world of the wide web, I also take mental stock of tips and techniques for video and photo the old school way – through magazines and books. If you’ve got some advice on good reading, leave some comments.
Based on a recent sales report, here’s a current list of the Top 10 DSLR Video Books being purchased on Amazon (at the time of this writing) – starting from the most popular! Samples of the books can be downloaded to your Kindle or iPad Kindle App from their product pages below.

1. Master Shots: 100 Advanced Camera Techniques to Get an Expensive Look on Your Low-Budget Movie
2. DSLR Cinema: Crafting the Film Look with Video
3. Master Shots Volume 2: Shooting Great Dialogue Scenes
4. The Filmmaker’s Eye: Learning (and Breaking) the Rules of Cinematic Composition
5. From Still to Motion: A photographer’s guide to creating video with your DSLR (Voices That Matter)
6. Motion Picture and Video Lighting, Second Edition
7. Cinematic Storytelling: The 100 Most Powerful Film Conventions Every Filmmaker Must Know
8. The Filmmaker’s Handbook: A Comprehensive Guide for the Digital Age
9. The Complete Film Production Handbook, Fourth Edition
10. Film Directing Shot by Shot: Visualizing from Concept to Screen (Michael Wiese Productions)

Among those books, the only one I’ve read/own is From Still to Motion. I’m still fairly new at all this, but I think we learn more than the content of that book on OliviaTech and CheesyCam.com.
A book I wholeheartedly recommend is Film Directing Fundamentals by Nicholas Proferes
. I’ve read a lot of textbooks, and this one is among the best.
Hey, great list! Thanks for the tip.
Any books you would recommend that concentrate on editing and/or color correction?
