Great strap. Would be perfect if they add a small pocket for nd filters and cards. Can I use with my manfrotto 200pl-14 plates ? I have a momopod, a trípod and a varavon slider all of them using the very nice 391rc2 head and all of those have this plate. I am searching for a good strap for my gh1 and the upcoming gh3 and I think I could finish my searching thanks to You….
@Labalbi Yes, the CS and FS straps will work with any tripod since there are 1/4 20″ holes an the bottom of the plates for adapting any QR plate. The foldable F-1 plate is directly compatible with Arca Swiss. For the Gh1 and GH3, the CS or FS seem like a nice fit. And you won’t have to spend an arm and leg!
Hi Olivia, great review – perfect timing as I was looking for a better strap for my X100 – love this design. I’ve got one of these Artisan and Artist straps and although I like the look of it – a simple cloth strap can’t compare to the functionality of the strap you reviewed. Looks super comfortable. I just don’t want it to be ‘overkill’ …you know?
Anyway…I’m definitely picking one up – thanks!
I really like the carry speed better then the black rapid and bought a few of the C3 mounting plates they would great on my Canon xa10′s but the plate covers the battery door on my canon T4i’s unless I mount the plate angled.
I love the idea on the new foldable F1 plate with the built in arca swiss plate
They should add the foldable ball head to the base plate on the new view finder they made. that would really be great three in one lol
My question is will the new F1 plate cover the battery door on the canon T4i?
Thank you ahead of time for answering and I love your site you make it easier for us that are newer to DSLR’s to understand things.
@Richard Hello! So I just tested out the F-1 mounting plate on the Canon T4i and it does NOT block the door.
Olivia what keeps the ballhead from flipping down on the foldable f-1 plate? That is the one I im interested in. In my head it seems it would just flop around or fold down on its own unlike the C-3 Plate. Is it spring loaded wiht a groove to lock into? Is there any way to get detailed shot of this part and what stops it from randomly folding? Thanks
@Domi Carry Speed found that there really wasn’t a need to lock the foldable feature into place so they did without it. There is a groove, however, once pushed, it will fold.
Hi Olivia, just a quick note. I have the FS Pro with F1 foldable. I have a 5D Mark III hanging off of it and it is great. The camera hangs great and sits level on my side. The foldable mount does not fold when hanging, it only folds when you decided to fold. The strap is comfortable even when wearing a long time. It is nice to be able to draw the camera up when walking, or in tight spaces, like around table tops. If it is drawn up and you put the camera to your eye, the strap releases giving you slack. All and all a good design. With the ball mount folder, fits right in my backpack. When not connected to the strap, the ball remains folded and not in the way. Thanks,
