The GoPro LCD BacPac
The GoPro is one incredible little dude, and with this tiny cam, adventure shots know no bounds. Prior to the introduction of the LCD BacPac, you only had that archaic looking alpha numerical cave art that was displayed on the front face of the GoPro to go by. Now, in plain English, you don’t have to play, “guess what this means” with your footage! The LCD BacPac requires a firmware update (download from GoPro’s website), and the new firmware unlocks some additional features, like keeping the clock set correctly. Beyond this neat introduction, you can now correctly Frame your shots, and also playback your videos with audio to make sure you’ve nailed your scene. The LCD BacPac
is a must have addition to your HD Hero that completely transforms the way you use your GoPro. Here’s our quick run through of what the LCD Bacpac offers in terms of new information and setting.
The GoPro HD camera’s don’t come with an easy way to attach the camera to a Tripod or other 1/4 x 20 mounts, so I highly recommend grabbing the GoPro Tripod Mount. We needed this tripod mount to attach it to our SpiderTrax Video Dolly. This is something I feel should have been included with every GoPro camera, but at least it’s just over $5 dollars, and free shipping with a Prime account.

GoPro Tripod Mount for HERO Cameras

The trouble with following this site is that I want to buy everything that I see! I’ll be broke soon enough….
[...] course comes with the standard waterproof housing, but I suggest you also look into the (optional) tripod mount which is what I find myself using the most. The LCD BacPac is also a very helpful addition [...]
Olivia, I just discovered your review site and I love it! I found the videos comparing the GoPro cameras and its accessories. And I have to agree with SJCT, I’m buying things based on your articles and will be broke in no time! Thanks. Your review of the LCD BacPac is what I was looking for, so I bought it. Now I’m going to look at some of your other reviews, but I took my wallet and hid it for now…
I’ve been browsing on-line more than 3 hours as of late, yet I by no means discovered any interesting article like yours. It is pretty price sufficient for me. In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content material as you did, the internet shall be a lot more useful than ever before.
What a compliment! Thank you so much, I’m glad you’re enjoying the blog! =)
Hi Olivia, g’day from Downunder.
I have the LCD BacPac on my GoPro Hero2 and I wouldn’t be without it. Its great to be able to play stuff back while out on the road, and make sure you have the framing just right.
One thing I don’t like, but I guess its there for “simplicity”, is the way you have to use a combination of two buttons only to get stuff happening, eg play a video, move onto the next video, etc.
But as far as comparing the GoPro to the competitors – well, there is no comparison
All the best Olivia, and keep up the awesome work.
Hi,
Also have the GoPro with the BlurFix..excellent mod and underwater with filters gets great video and still shots.
Question: is there an adaptor that will enable a lens to be fitted from the 55mm to?? anything? I don’t have a lens so if someone makes a 55mm to bayonet or friction etc fitting..I want one!
I use the GoPro with the blurfix fitted all the time ATM with diferent filters but being able to zoom etc would be so much better….
Cheers
Matt
Hi Olivia,
With the GoPro on the skateboard wheels slider – there is a cable that appears to be going through the GoPro waterproof housing to a DP4 LCD Monitor. Is this some sort of black magic?
Or was a hole drilled in the case for the cable?
Cheers
Ross
@Ross Haha, no voo doo here.. the case was, in fact, modified. We drilled a hole to line the cable through.
