The F&V R-300, K4000 and K4000S LED Video Lights Are Finally Shipping!

F&V’s highly anticipated R-300, K4000 and K4000S LED Lights are now shipping. If you remember, I did an interview with Connor from F&V about both the R-300 Ring Light and the K4000 LED light. Since that video, I’ve received a lot of questions in regards to availability and ship date.

R-300 SPECIFICATIONS
- 300 Daylight Balanced LEDs ( 5600K )
- 1950 Lux @ 1-meter
- 85% Color Rendering Index
- Seamless Power Variation: 0-100%
- Flicker-free for Film and Video

Something to note** The R-300 15mm rod support has been delayed in its transit. Since the light and rail mount are packaged separately, customers will initially receive the ring light and then will be shipped the rail mount in about 2-3 weeks. For all customers that pre-ordered the R-300 w/ 15mm rod support, F&V will kindly gift them a Milk Diffusion Filter for being patient with us. F&V says, “we appreciate their business immensely, and we hate to delay.”

K4000 SPECIFICATIONS
- Available in daylight and bi-color models
- 400 pure color power LEDs
- 2860 Lux @ 1 meter in a self-contained 1′x1′ unit
- Perfect color balance and diode matching, pure color consistency between LEDs and a clean calibrated color

The K-4000 3 light kit is ready to sell on the F&V site as well HERE. The 3-light kit will come with a bag that will hold all three lights. NOTE: This bag is not currently available, but will be available right around the 1st of the year. F&V will ship out the 3-lights to the customers initially and later, when available, they will ship out the bag. In any case, $1050 for 3 1×1 panels is a great deal!

How is the K4000 ($350) any better than the ePhoto 500 LED panel (~$200). Is it just quality of light? Build quality? I’m having a hard time considering this new product over the ePhoto panels. Any thoughts?

@Steven I have not had the chance to get my hands on the K4000 yet to conduct a comparison test on the light against 500, 600 or 900 LED light panels. As soon as my light comes in I will have a few video tests out for sure. I’ll keep you posted. In the mean time, I’d consider a few things before making a decision on which panel you purchase: lux, intensity and CRI. Check in with these specs to see which light best suits your needs.

Just ordered 1 R-300. I’ve never worked with a ring light before so Olivia, seeing the FV’s ring light in person how versatile do you think it is for key lighting or other uses vs its traditional use? I opted for this light over the z96

    • Olivia says:

@Kidxsicarus I am shooting a video on this today :) Hopefully it helps you see the R-300 in a real world application. I’m thinking to show a 3 point lighting setup, as a key light and we’re going to take a look at the color of this light on skin.
