Rob at the Tamron booth gives us the skinny on their newest lenses for E Mount cameras, full frame cameras and what Tamron plans for the micro four thirds market in the future.

First we take a look at the Tamron 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di III VC Lens for Sony E Mount Cameras . This lens is built for the Sony E mount camera system and incorporates a stepping motor that is optimal for the contrast-detection AF system of Sony mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras. This will also improve AF when shooting video. With the motor built into the lens, focusing will be quieter and more responsive. The VC (vibration compensation) that Rob tells me about allows the drive to be operated with smaller coils and magnets, reducing the weight and size for the entire VC unit.Equivalent to 27-300mm Lens.

Next we see the NEWLY released and currently available Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 SP Di VC USD Zoom Lens for Canon. This is a high-speed standard to telephoto zoom lens with a fast f/2.8 maximum aperture throughout the zoom range. Designed for full-size SLR and DSLR cameras it offers excellent image quality accentuated by advanced Vibration Compensation (image stabilization) and an Ultrasonic Silent Drive Motor for quiet, smooth and precise autofocus.

Last, Rob shows me another NEWLY RELEASED and currently available lens by Tamron, the Tamron 90mm f/2.8 SP Di MACRO 1:1 VC USD Lens for Canon. This is a newer version of the current SP 90mm f/2.8 Di Macro Autofocus Lens that Tamron also has on the market. This brand new 90mm Macro Prime Lens has Vibration Compensation image stabilization technology for limiting camera shake blur and an Ultrasonic Silent Drive Motor for fast, smooth and quiet autofocus. A continuous manual focus mechanism provides precise manual focus, especially important with this lens’ 1:1 macro capability. And an Internal Focusing system means the front lens elements do not rotate and the lens does not change length when focusing, also important for macro shooting. This 90mm Prime Macro Lens is made for full frame cameras and has an aperture range of f/2.8-32.
