Rosco LitePad Loop Ring Light
Rosco’s LitePad Loop provides a dimmable soft, indirect, shadowless light output. The light engine within the Loop is daylight balanced at approximately 5800K with a slim profile of 1.3″ and weighs only 2.4 lbs. The LitePad Loop is perfectly in line with the axis of the lens since you shoot through the hole in the center of the loop. A well-designed ring light like Rosco’s Loop, casts practically no shadows on the subject in front of the camera. For portrait and fashion photography, this is ideal as the on-axis fill from a ring light can reduce wrinkles, shadows and blemishes on the subject’s face.

As with their other LitePads, the LightPad Loop is battery powered, however, the LitePad Loop has even more power accessories to make it easy to attach the batteries directly to the Loop allowing you to go completely cordless. The Loop accepts 8X AA Batteries, DC and AC power or for those with professional batteries on-hand, Rosco has developed two cheese-plate adapters – one that allows you to attach Anton Bauer batteries and another to attach V-Mount batteries.

One innovative feature of LitePad Loop is its two-part mounting system that allows you to quickly attach the Loop to your camera. The Mounting Assembly has a 1/4-20 bolt that threads onto the bottom of your camera and mounts with the provided standard 15mm rod system. Once you have the Mounting Assembly attached to your camera, the Loop snaps into place with magnets. From there, you can move the sled backwards & forwards on the rods and adjust the L-Bracket up & down so that you can position the camera’s lens in the center of the Loop.
The four characteristics that make Rosco’s LitePad Loop stand-out for shooting product or people are:
1.) Diffused, shadowless, on-axis light output.
2.) Light-weight with a slim profile.
3.) Battery powered and cordless.
4.) Attaches/Detaches to the camera quickly and easily.
The LitePad Loop kit comes with all of the necessary accessories to mount the light to your camera and power the Loop. Rosco also provides gels for color and creativity. These can be used in a variety of applications from stylized catch lights to white balancing.

For the example video we show me lit up using the Rosco LitePad Loop on a clean set with a black backdrop. We introduce LED pin spot lights as simple rim lights in order to separate me from the back drop. To add creativity to the shot, we lowered the LED pin spot lights to create a stylish lens flare. This can be used for product shoots, music videos or fashion photography, to name a few possible applications. The LightPad Loop will always provide consistant soft, diffused indirect light for your subject.

In an earlier blog post, I show the LED Pin Light in use on a music video we shot.

Rosco Litepad Loop LED Ring Light

Hey Olivia what back lights did you use for the lens lens flares those were cool also did you use gels or bulbs to get that blue look !! Im shooting a music video and would like that look . They weren’t the American DJ PAR-38B were they ? I was considering buying those based of your last video but not sure if those would be best for the lens flare look what would you recommend ?
@JC those are simply two DJ pinspot LED spotlights. No gels or color grading was used, this was all a result of only the Rosco LightPad Loop and 2 of the LED pin lights.
