I recently read a HurlbutVisuals blog post by Shane Hurlbut ASC on his experience with Rosco’s LitePad LED lights. Last October I reviewed these lights (you can find the full post HERE) and wanted to revisit the video and the lighting kit to see what Shane and I both concluded in regards to these unique LED lights. It looks like the both of us noticed the versatility of Rosco’s LitePads with their lightweight, cool-to-the-touch and small footprint characteristics. You can see for yourself what the lights actually look like in the videos provided. They really speak for themselves.
While great for studio and set lighting, it’s noteworthy to mention that Rosco’s LitePads can also be used for shooting video on your DSLR camera. I show the option for DSLR shooters with and w/o the optional Axiom encasing. This housing does provide mounting options and a placeholder for color gels. These LitePads are groundbreaking for videographers, photographers, and filmakers that need soft lighting that can also be battery operated, easily transported, and durable.
You can find a variety of different sized Rosco Litepads following the link (click here)
Rosco HO+ Litepads and Axiom Litepads
The Rosco LitePad HO+ (high output) is an LED light panel that projects light inward to give a soft and more evenly filled light source rather than projecting light directly out for the more common directional throw that LEDs typically give. The lights are a thin acrylic panel, which makes them extremely light weight, super durable, and even water resistant. The LED lights are located around the circumference of the LitePad and point inwards to a special grid design. Rosco LitePads are cool to the touch and have a life of over 60,000 hours.
