PhotoFlex Constellation3 Continuos CFL Light at PMA CES 2012
Sean from Photoflex shows us the Constellation3 fixture at CES PMA 2012. The Constellation3 fixture holds 3 150 Watt CFL bulbs rated at 5500K, each switches on independently. These bulbs are perfect for DSLR shooting, as they’re flicker free- regardless of your shutter speed. The fixture can take Tungsten bulbs which are 500 Watts and about 8,000 lumens each. A nice lighting kit that works with PhotoFlex Softboxes, but the price is outside of the average consumer. These large CFL bulbs are sold separately and will run you a little over $100 each with 8,000 hours of life. The housing can be found for over $300 dollars. Hi Brian, the cheaper bulbs are not color balanced correctly and they are much smaller than the CFL bulbs that the Constellation3 requires. Specs on bulbs HERE
Hi Olivia. enjoying your posts immensely with all theses gadgets. Just a quick question if I may? As you’re turning out these great videos pretty quickly are you recording straight into camera somehow?
Thanks and looking forward to more gadget news
Hi Charles, for CES PMA we shot double system, video and audio separately, and synced in post. The interviews were all pretty short so cutting the B-roll into the main camera’s footage wasn’t too difficult. We used a Zoom H1 as a microphone so all of the audio was recorded directly into the external audio recorder w/o having to carry extra microphones. We also shot ALL of the PMA footage with two Sony HX9V point and shoot cameras. Thanks for watching along!
Thanks Olivia for the feedback. Wow , great quality for such a small setup.
On eBay there are cheaper 150W 5500K light bulbs.
