Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH3 Mirrorless Digital Camera Available for Preorder on B&H

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH3 Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera is available again on B&H for pre-order. This camera has been hard to get ahold of but it’s back in stock at the B&H store for the time being. A nice feature on the new GH3 is the unlimited recording time. Although the 29ish-minute recording restriction for PAL regions will impede on this feature, the GH3′s HDMI output also enables external recording, with simultaneous recording to the SD card. With the use of a video recorder, you can record directly from the cameras sensor to a hard disk. If you’re curious about an example of this workflow, I did an OTech VIDEO TUTORIAL HERE.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH3 Mirrorless Digital Camera

Hi Olivia, Will you be upgrading? Looking forward to your review if you are !
@Charles I would like to… we shall see! The GH3 looks incredible. I was able to check it out at Photo Plus this year and I’m loving the new form factor as well. The camera sits well in your hands as it’s a bit beefier. The new specs are legit.
Sony A99 or Panasonic GH3?
You think the extra price on the Sony A99 is worth it over the GH3 for video work?
I can’t decide.
I like the IS and autofocus on Sony A99 is really nice. Wonder how much AF has improved on GH3 from GH2 and how it compares to A99.
But then there is also the Full Frame and low light shooting.
I’m going to be shooting mainly for wedding videos.
What would you recommend?
@Svem I will be releasing a video overview from #PPE2012 on both the A99 and GH3, if you can wait until next week, there will be some more info directly from both companies that will address your questions! I personally think they’re both really great cameras. I have a GH2 and I love it, I just wish there were more lens options w/o the crop factor. I know that Panasonic has come out with more lenses to answer this issue. Sony’s A99 is a full frame camera with options galore. They both produce excellent images. It’s a tough decision! Wait for the videos… then revisit your choices.
@svem Weddings = Low Light Shooting. I’d go full frame both for lenses and low light. That said, I’m about to purchase 2 gh2s and 1 gh3 for my studio for a 3 camera/live edit setup. The last wedding I filmed I used a 60d with fast lenses and still had to denoise a bunch. My 5dIII has been a welcomed addition in low light! The a99 looks sweet!
