    • Rob Muench says:

I could really use a slider with an iOS app controlled pan tilt head, that could do real time and timelapse.

    • I’m a student making a feature film with DSLR’s. I’d love this motorised slider so I can get loads of lovely smooth tracking shots of locations etc. please send it my way!

    • Sean D Brown says:

I would love this slider as I leave March 6th for a Film in Nepal and it could come with the 2nd team for the film project. We are shooting a Doc about a man who is helping to bring education and healthcare to his village.

    • David says:

      I want :D

    • Kris says:

      Hi Olivia,

My class and I have been following you for a long time now. Everything is you do is awesome. We are based in a high school in Sydney, Australia. This year the school has allowed me to teach film. As we have an extremely limited budget your website is part of our creative diet. Myself and 19 students would love this slider. Help us build the next gen of cinephiles.

    • nick wilson-codega says:

The perfect slider would be a modular design. The ability to change the length would be amazing. It seems silly to have to purchase multiple sliders if you want a longer or shorter solution. The slider and its power source would need to be self contained to.make it easier to transport. I don’t want to have battery packs hanging off of it. The slider and its components needs to be weatherproof so I do not have to worry about it or its motor going out on me if I am in the elements. Easy to clean the rails!

    • Henry says:

my whole life ive wanted to be dog.

      i have failed many time.

      one time i died.

slider will help me be dog.

      please help.

    • Andrei Gardiola says:

I use a diy skateboard dolly, a motorized slider would make my shots much more precise and smoother

  • Awesome. I need a slider that has consistent motion, I dont trust my hand.

  • Boon Ong says:

I would like to see auto panning head on the slider. =)

  • Todd says:

What I’d really like to see with a motorized slider is wifi enabled control through a smartphone app. The software possibilities from an app would give you do much control. And with cameras moving toward wifi enabled, you could really optimize use of the slider with the camera in unison.

The other direction for me would be compact and durable for outdoor shots. Possibly even weatherproofing so a bit of rain is manageable.

  • Awesome! Mystery slider. Look forward to seeing what it is :)

  • Bar Avni says:

I made a DIY one so the music videos i make for people look more professional. but theres nothing like the real thing. What I want for in a slider is smoothness control and portability! Unfortunately my slider is not that portable, not that smooth and pretty annoying to control!

  • Felix says:

I could use it as i wanna get into timelapse with movement! :)

  • Diana says:

A motorized slider that is seamless, easy to set up, adjustable, no turbulence and sleek! Love your blog by the way, your videos rock!

  • Alex Urrutia says:

I want it to have a knob to control the speed!

  • Chris says:

I want smooth, reliable, easy to setup and takedown, functional abilities in a motorized slider. It also needs to be compact and the ‘perfect’ weight for my gear… not necessarily light weight (as this can cause negative imaging out in the wild) but not too heavy either… the ‘perfect’ weight depending on the camera being used. If this is modular, even better!

  • threeman says:

Automatic panning would be REALLY awesome.

  • Erick Roman says:

I hope first comment gives me some sort of advantage towards winning! God knows its such a struggle for independent filmmakers to buy equipment that costs so much money. I know if I win this slider, it’ll definitely be put to great use.

  • patrick donahue says:

So i what i would like to see in a slide is a very smooth multi speed motion in which i could use it for time-lapse photography and also in my adventure sports films such as climbing, skiing, mountaineering, and such. i believe a slider with great quality will help me ( a college student studying film production) produce fantastic film on a small budget.

  • Gus noble says:

I would like to have a motorized slider with a timer
Knob, where you can choose speed.

  • Josh says:

Can’t wait to try out some smooth slides – my cheapo hand powered slider doesn’t always deliver… hoping this will! ;)

  • Koenigsegg17 says:

Would love this for time lapse :)

  • Ryan says:

I just want to be able to do motorized timelapse movements AND video slides with one motion control system.

  • Kai says:

I am a poor student who won’t be able to afford anything like this anytime soon. I want a motorized slider to improve my film projects quality and get even more creative shots. Also this slider seems to be easy and quick to set up which would be excellent for my work.

  • Daros says:

I want 100% baby butt smooth motion in my slider.

  • Daniel says:

    Hello Olivia,

I would like a slider that can walk so it can change perspective better. besides that a slider with motion controller would be nice.

  • This is an awesome giveaway! Thanks :)

  • Navarrete says:

I’m a Photographer that starting to shoot Video and I would use it on every job possible

  • Erick Roman says:

almost thought I had first comment. I guess people really want this!

  • Chris Ferkel says:

I would want a slider that can be mounted on tripod but also can set up on a table top. Also it would nice to have one that has a way to change the speed of the motorized slider.

  • Gudgefilm says:

One that I can count on is good for me.

  • Ramon Joseph says:

The smoothness of a motorized slider would help out a lot when i film.

  • Alex Gomez says:

Constant motion, variable speeds for timelapses and such.

  • I am looking to transition from photography to video and think the production value a slider provides is immeasurable. A motorized version would add some consistency and control and open the door to more dynamic time lapses as well.

  • Jared says:

This would definitely take my videos to the next level!

  • Ryan says:

Olivia, the link to Binkd is requiring me to create an account/login, but after doing so there isn’t a place to submit my name & email address.

  • Ryan says:

Free motorized slider yet to be revealed? Sign me up!

When it comes to sliders, i always thought…. Geez, pushing this thing left and right and back and forth is suchhhhh hard work! And in this day and age, with modern robotics and technology, wouldn’t it be great if you could do this hands free and leave the labor to machines? So I dont have to stay awake for 72 hours straight moving my camera , centimeter by centimeter, for a moving timelapse? Or go to the ER from slamming my head repeatedly on my computer after seeing that my slider footage isn’t really sliding at all but looks like a man with no shirt in -25ºF weather was moving it?

So I guess all I want in a motorized slider…. is for it to be motorized. Easy man to please.

  • mauro says:

It will be perfect for me ! i would like to do some timelapse and great smooth video shot but and don’t have so much money so….

ps : sorry for my english but i’m come from belgium :D

  • Casey Chow says:

I’ve always wanted a slider, in fact you were giving me advice about it before. I’m looking for a motorized slider that can give me smooth shots for video, and also be able to do timelapse photography. Any slider, I’d be grateful. Thanks for the opportunity Olivia!

  • Eric says:

i would like to see a silent motor.

  • Casey Chow says:

I don’t know how to use the Binkd site, it keeps leading me into “Create your own Contest” and has no information about yourrs :(

  • Angelo says:

i want to set it and forget it like the Ronco Roaster lol jk… I think it being light easy to set up and modular would be great as well. add on features the ability to use it for time-lapse photography and also be able to use it without the motor manually. light easy to travel with and durable and just something that anyone has to be able to and another dimension to the way they see the world and want to present it.

  • Cameron Bock says:

I would like a motorized slider to have various settings that can control the speed of the slider, and also some presets that can help me in production. Thanks, Cameron.

  • BT says:

I made a DIY one, too. But I rarely use it because it’s so cumbersome. I want a slider to be easily portable and able to mount directly onto a tripod head. And to come with a padded bag that is as easy to transport as a tripod bag, but that will keep it fairly well protected. That’s really all I want. Now to get into advanced features, being able to dial in an amount of time on the motor for time lapse would be cool.

Btw, are we supposed to make an account on step 3?

  • Koenigsegg17 says:

Yep, Josh. I’m also having trouble doing Step 3)
    =(

  • yves says:

hello olivia for my work it is very well ;) i am a wedding photographer and filmaker ;) thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaks

  • Cameron says:

I would really like for a motorized slider to be able to also function as an intervelometer to serve as a time-lapse aid.

  • Vale says:

    I want epic smoothness!

  • Definitely could use one of these to add more of a dramatic feel to my timelapses as well as getting a nice smooth shot for video shoots instead of using a glass table and a piece of cloth to push it haha :D

  • Vinh says:

    looks like a machine gun

  • Martin Rieder says:

A slider should be easy to transport when you are on the move. Very fluid motion is also a must. Build from durable, but light, materials is also a must.

  • Great Idea for a give away Olivia

What I would be looking for in a Motorized Slider would be a short learning curve & quite easy to setup

  • I need a slider with some sort of time-interval auto-sliding feature so that I can shoot timelapse!

  • I need a slider that feels sturdy and and durable (not made of cheap components). It would be great if the motor speed was adjustable. Finally, I’d also like it to be easy to manage when traveling (better portability than the rest on the market).

  • Prakash says:

    Omg omg omg

  • FortuneRox says:

I’d like to see a motorized slider that does require wires or a heavy battery to carry around with it. Maybe powered by Canon or sony batteries? Run and gun shooters like myself would find that much more convenient.

  • Dave says:

I want a moto slider to pull sweet slides in tight spots where my hands cant get too. It would also be cool if it auto reversed. Olivia, you are really cute.

  • Luke says:

Want smooth operation with friction control for non-motorized use and control options for the motorized use. Tripod mount. Ball head for tripod.

  • Richard Salgado says:

Portability would be amazing in a motorized slider.

  • Maurice Bergers says:

It should be easy to set up to save time, lightweight to make it easy to carry and easy to control so you can easily get the shots you are looking to get.

  • I’m a cinematographer in Los Angeles and I work often with motorized equipment, and am always on the lookout for the next cool product. I’m shooting a couple of music videos this spring and would love to give this one a go!

  • Robert Cauttero says:

That slider will really add some interesting shots to my videos.

  • low maintenance, reliability, durability, portability :)

  • kursad says:

i need that slider because i follow you since beginning.i purchase all my gears after i watched your videos.and i watch every single video that you shot.even i stopped my car and watch your youtube videos whenever i receive them on the go.(seriously).on top of that i left my glidetrack slider in istanbul.i really need a new one.perfect timing so. :)

  • Anton says:

I just want a slider for timelapses. Ведь таймлапсы в движении-это совсем другое дело=)

  • Aaron Keller says:

    Hi Olivia-

I’m a father of 2 young boys, trying to get my wedding/event videography business off the ground. Do not have much in the way of funds but own some basic equipment (HD Sony NX cam, tripod, wireless lav, & LED light) and this motorized slider (well, ANY slider) would be a great addition to my arsenol. Would love to win it. Been following you on YouTube for some time now and thank you for all your little tips. :-)

  • Nikk says:

Would to love to make a Bay Area Time-Lapse and as well time lapse of the whole world with it!

  • salvador says:

I want It!1, i really need this for my short films, im currently in film schol

  • Damion Redz says:

I would like a motorized slider that would be longer than most but with an easy and fast setup to put together or when you break it down it breaks down to small carrying case or bag…I’m asking pretty much for a motorized slider Transformer lol

  • Gary Jay says:

I want a motorised slider that is built to last and is a real work horse for the filmmaker.

  • EMBEE87Films says:

Speed from extremely slow for timelaps, to very fast for slow-motion footage.
Able to take a beating, so it can be used in harsh enviroments.

  • Justin says:

Sliders = Butter shots on the-go! Portable, and if you know what your doing you can really get some breathtaking shots.. Sliders are very professional looking and can go where a normal standard 12 foot track cannot like restaurants, commercial businesses, and all that good stuff!

  • brian says:

Im very new to the world of video/film & a slider like this would be a great way to enhance my other wise stand still video shots. thank you OliviaTech

  • I have used sliders before but never a motorized slider which I think is far superior considering the perfect fluid motion. I could really benefit from this!

  • Alexis Delgado says:

Hi, a motorized slider will help to improve the quality of my videos, together with my new Canon T3, that my family gifted me in December 2012. Thank you for the opportunity to participate. Blessings. Alexis Delgado (a.k.a. The Champion)

  • Maile says:

I want a slider with smooth motion and easy to use controls.

  • I want this sexy pixelated slider !! :D
Would work so well with my pixelated camera ! ;)

  • Will says:

What I want in a slider, I need a slider that is versatile in every condition I shoot in,
It needs to look sexy and be smooth.

  • Jeeves says:

It would really help me with my timelapse shots of Richmond that I’ve been taking for this documentary I’m shooting. For the past two months, I’ve been using a yard stick and popsicle attached to a slide and glide (and moving the camera a half centimeter every ten seconds for a picture. VERY time consuming and still victim to human error.

  • Jay Windland says:

Smooth starts and stops, and the ability to support the weight of my FS700.

  • Leonardo Que says:

I want a slider for nice fluid tracking shoots to break up the monotony of still shots for my upcoming wedding gigs. low maintenance and stability are what I look for in sliders.

  • Jahnny Lee says:

Wow what a great giveaway! BIG UPS to OliveTech!! I would love to get my hand on this beautiful piece of machinery! Theres has been so many times when I’m out shooting for a personal project and visioned how great this shot would look or to express a certain feeling during a shot, only if I had a slider. Not any kind of slider was a mind, I wanted specifically a motorized slider. It was for a time lapse slider shot that I had in mind but couldn’t execute it due to improper gear.

Many important aspects come to mind if i was building a motorized slider. I would initially look for the sturdiness and build quality, especially the legs of the slider. There cannot be any flex within the slider or the sliders legs as you will be able to tell while reviewing your footage.(The sturdiness of the slider should be able to withstand a DSLR to an Epic.) I would also want the slider to be as light and strong as it can be. Using the correct type of metal and engineering this can be accomplished. Then I would look into portability, how smooth and QUIET the slider operates during motion, especially if it was a motorized slider and it compatibility with different fluid head tri pods. Last but definitely not least would be the remote to control the motorized slider. The remote would need to be a very simple and to the point. No extra buttons to confuse the user. Simply a stop,go(on/off) and control the speed on the slider, and a power reader to show how much life the remote and slider has would satisfy me.

Thanks again for the great giveaway contest, I hope to get my hand on this motorized slider someway or another. haha

    • Jahnny Lee says:

P.S. As a current student pursuing a career in Film as a director/DP(broke college student w/ minimal film gear), I can’t even remember how many times a slider, even better a motorized slider would of come in handy to express a certain feeling within a shot.

I feel its so unfair for the aspiring and talented filmmaker to put their dreams on hold just because they can’t afford the proper gear. Sometimes its depressing just to be able to think how this one shot could have so much more depth only if I had the proper gear. But this is where great companies and people like you have linked up to put these contests together to help out the broke and talented aspiring filmmakers. Thanks so much!

  • I so want this sexy pixelated slider !!
Would work so well with my pixelated camera ! ;)
Seriously, I’m looking for smooth and consistent (pixelated) motion to add some depth to my videos!

  • Devin says:

With with my motorized head would make an amazing pair to doing cinematic shots in my narratives.

  • Rudy Diaz says:

Having this motorized slider will help me get more gigs

  • Matt says:

I would absolutely love a motorized slider! It would definitely enhance my video production.

  • Misa says:

I want a slider that’s smooth, portable and also should be one tripod mountable, and motorized is a big plus.

  • What I want in a motorized slider is a deluxe espresso machine. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been setting up a shot and thought, “My god, if only this slider could make me a hot espresso right now, I could actually get some work done and keep focused!”

    :)

    • Also, for step 3, I entered the information required, clicked “I agree to terms, etc.” then hit enter contest but it brought me back to the same page. I wasn’t sure I was entered correctly so I hit “enter contest” again and a message was at the top of the screen saying “Anti-spam filter triggered” with me last name next to it. Just want confirmation I was entered correctly for the contest. Thanks!

      Mick

  • Al Cruz says:

WOW nice!!!! I could use one of those!!!

  • Jed Darlington-Roberts says:

I just want a slider, so many times i’ve wanted one of those movements but i just can’y afford it

  • Derek Webb says:

I’d like a slider that would sing me songs and talk about the good ol’ days and Blue Bell Ice Cream; it gets boring waiting for timelapses to finish.

  • Andy Kwok says:

Hi, I would love to see a handle that folds out of the bottom of the slider on one end and a way to attach the slider to a tripod on the other end. This way I could lock the camera off on the handle side and combo the slider as a jib arm as well.

That would be VERY convenient. Even if its a small jib I would be able to create some nice fluid motion during interview shots.

Doesn’t have to be a fancy handle either, I could always add padding if needed.

    I hope I’m the winner!

    • Andy Kwok says:

Also ! It would be cool if the handle could extend to the ground acting as a kickstand. Perhaps taking the place of a light stand for the extra stability.

  • Nicolai Aquilina says:

A fluid head would be great, So you could re-frame the shot while using the slider.

sometimes you have a wonderful slider shot .. but at the endpoint of the shot you lose the frame/subject.. So i think a fluid head which can pan and tilt would be ideal for a slider

  • Victor R. says:

I need a slider that has consistent motion.

  • Richard Cave says:

I would like to share this slider with other film makers in my area so that we can film beautiful shots, photograph smooth time lapse and be robust so that we can get many years of use and love out of it. It needs to be simple, and of high quality, and easy to use for all standards of users.

  • Justin Leyba says:

I’m looking for a portable (something I can take and place anywhere) and a perfectly smooth motorized slider… just like the one in your hand!
Thanks for the opportunity Olivia! :)

  • Kesneme says:

i want for my studio and my work for imagicore studio :)

  • The reason why I would love to have a Motorized Slider is because it would make everything more epic, dramatic and gorgeous. Having a Motorized Slider would mean smooth time-lapses, slow dollies, and making a young man happy. It would be the first time I win something; the first one and the best.

    Jose SJD

  • I need a slider that can go down to very slow speeds for a subtle effect.

  • Rahil Mirza says:

    Because it is expensive :)

  • Tim says:

Hands free operation sounds amazing! Plus you can’t go wrong with having a motor slide your camera, my hand gets a little shaky at times!

    Thanks for the giveaway opportunity!

  • Martin D says:

Motorized Slider …some of the qualities that I’d like to see
-smooth, adjustable speed movement …perferably non rubber gear band driven
-made out of durable, sturdy material & easy to maintain
-quiet operation …minimal noise from track movement or motor
-long lasting motor with decent power supply …universal connectors
-being able to adjust track angle anywhere from horizontal (0 degrees) through vertical (90 degrees)
-variable foot pads/spike for different surfaces
    -easy carry and easy assembly/disassembly
-a slider that can handle a decent load and possibly versatile enough to add or shorten track lengths

    DANG! …I’m picky.

  • Manny says:

    Sing me up Olivia!

This would be such time saver for me. It’s such a pain to do it manually.

    https://vimeo.com/59458452

  • Alex says:

Looking for a slider that is lightweight and easy to set up in fast past situations. Having a slider adds so much production value and is a great tool for creating cinematic shots.

Thanks for all the great reviews and videos!

  • Sam Barnwell says:

I would LOVE the slider because I want to move into doing time lapse photography and having this would make it so much better! 4K time lapses here we come! :)

  • Eliud says:

    Durability, smoothness and trustworthy

  • Sam Ou says:

having a lightweight and something i can easily set up and potentially travel with would be awesome

  • CJ says:

I needs me a motorized slider that has variable speed and motorized pan and tilt would be smashing as well. Thanks!

  • John DeVose says:

I need a slider that is consistent, smooth, reliable, and easy to use…a slider that is great whether doing timelaspe or videography

  • Having another tool in our arsenal would be fantastic! Being able to offer my clients options like this as well as the creative aspect is huge.

Being weatherproof as well as being able to control it via wifi from a iphone or ipad is another option I’d like to see.

    Thanks, love your blog.
    (sucking up sorry)
    Mark

  • Ivan Leung says:

Hi Olivia, I’ve been a fan of your tech blog for a couple of months now, and I have to say that I love them all! I’ve been a photographer for many years and with the video capabilities of todays DSLR, I’ve become a cinematographer enthusiast! I’m going to tweet this now, I hope I’m the lucky winner!

  • Chris Yankton says:

I would want a slider to move B camera back and forth during an interview automatically so I can monitor main camera, especially handy when shooting an interview solo.

  • Rayhanur kabir says:

    Good :)

  • Louis Walsh says:

I could really use it for timelapse photography and for smooth moving shots! thanks!

  • Edison says:

I want a motorized slider that is portable, reliable, and most importantly, smooth. Also variable speed control and maybe a rechargeable battery for the motor.

  • John DeVose says:

I need a slider that is consistent, smooth, reliable, and easy to use…a slider that is great whether doing timelaspe or videography

  • Marshall says:

Well, first off, I’d like the motorized slider to have a motor. And secondly, I want it to slide. I’m not too picky.

  • Mike says:

I would like a slider that is a lot smoother and steadier than the piece of junk that I have, and it being motorized would also make it way nicer!

  • Bryan Lawler says:

What I want in a Motorized Slider is something that is easy enough for my 8 year old son can setup and use. He continues to become more and more interested in what I do as a filmmaker and photographer. He helps me out in all my class assignments. We would have a lot of fun with a Motorized Slider as we create fun little videos together. Thanks for the chance to win!!!

  • Brandon Lee says:

I want to have controlled speed in very small increments with a remote to control it without being near the camera.

  • marc osborne says:

I want a mechanical slider that feels “heavier” and looks more like a Dolly. And I’d love the head to pan naturally, as well. I think people are getting lazy with sliders and forget to use the human touch (not the slider’s fault).

  • I want portability and easy setup and breakdown in a motorized slider; do not want to have to take up too much time setting up your shot! Thanks Olivia!

  • Michael Cornett says:

What I would love in a motorized slider is lightweight portability, as well as a simple modular design that allows for proper motor, handcrank, or full manual operation. As with any slider, gripping maneuverable feet are wonderful, as well as many mounting points throughout the track. Bearing vs friction.

  • Skullite says:

A great slider for me would be able to perform 2 axis-motion (tilt and pan) while sliding, of course we should have the choice over the tilt and pan, either manual or automatic (for time-lapses) an app would be great for handling automatic motion(for the sliding motion and tilt-pan) but a plugged-in physical controller would be better and more reliable, couple it with an internal intervalometer to sync slider motion with camera shutter, and you have yourself the Most Complete Slider out there.

  • Janice Lynn says:

I just want smoother shots, me holding a camera causes all my shots to come out pretty crappy lol. Especially since my hands naturally shake lightly even when i’m not recording a video.

  • Kai Thorarensen says:

    Dear Olivia,

I would really appreciate receiving this motorized slider from you. Since I live on Iceland, I don’t have a lot of opportunities nor stores where I could buy or test such a device.
I really keen of testing the gear that I buy and since such sliders aren’t available on this little (but still beautiful) island of mine, I haven’t bought or tried anything.

I really love your little gear reviews and I’m a fan of you’re show. I would like to repay the favor and show you how wonderful my home and the entire country is. This slider would definitely aid in my attempt of doing so.

    Best regards,
    Kai Þórður Thorarensen

PS: If you haven’t heard of Iceland before, it’s one of the countries where our beloved TV Series Game of Thrones has been filmed!!!

  • Michael says:

i like to have a motorized slider because i can´t trust my hand :-)

  • I’ve been really needing a slider to improve my corporate video shoots, but the budget has been too tight lately. Thanks for the opportunity!

  • Nigel Barros says:

What I want in a motorized slider is simple. Durable, light, smooth, and reliable. When I go out for a shoot the only reason I should come home with bad shots should be my lack of creativity not my gear.

  • Felicia says:

This will be great for my upcoming projects. Since I do a lot of production solo, this would be used often. I need this! Thanks Olivia

  • Fernando Alves says:

Easy to use controller. Maybe programmable via iOS?

  • Roscoes says:

Built in controls for timelapse would be awesome, maybe some articulating/adjustable legs to get a good angle in some “rockier” areas.

  • humza says:

Aspiring film maker, want it so bad for timelapses

  • marko says:

i made some test on several dslr video products for JPM magazine. i really like to try this slider…

  • Abdelmajid says:

i want a slider to be smooth , portable and easy to set up and use
    + versatile !!!

  • Andrew Chapman says:

I’m shooting an homage to Darren Aronofsky this spring and I’m trying to replicate the moving timelapses in Requiem for a Dream. This would be perfect for that! Thanks for the opportunity.

  • Tom O. says:

Consistent motion and easy of setup for motion time-lapses.

  • Kevin says:

For me, Ball bearings, easy cleaning, battery or plug in, no loose wires dangling. Most important is silky smooth and speed control.

  • Jameson says:

I’m in need of a slider and if I’m going to get one I might as well get a motorized one for times when I can’t trust my hands to stay at the same speed.

  • Tony Gwon says:

This is a perfect wedding gift for me. I need a motorized slider so bad for my photo/video work but I can’t spend big $$$ right now because I get married next month. I need to save every penny until the wedding. I’ll send you my happy picture to Oliviatech.com if I win this slider. :)
    Thank you!

  • Gary Phan says:

Primarily, I would love a motorized slider to create dynamic time-lapses. The best thing it could have is an intuitive and easy to use interface. And it should have a consistent and smooth motion.

  • Kevin Sasaki says:

I want a motorized slider to have a smooth consistent motion so it will be easy to control when filming fast motion objects or need a steady shot

  • EricSF says:

I’d love a motorized slider that can be controlled through wifi/app!

  • Darryl Yee says:

I would like to see an attachment or head that would allow the slider to be used vertically or diagonally.

  • Melczer Ákos says:

Im an amateur filmmaker/student. It would be nice to have.

  • Todd Ofenbeck says:

Smooth movement as well as the capacity to handle heavier camera/lens combinations. Horizontal and vertical configurations are a must. A nice, robust warranty is always appreciated as well!

  • Claudius Atzinger says:

A Silder woud be great i making film since im 9 an won even prices but i had not been able to get on of these

  • Damian Dodd says:

I want a slider to move my viewers! And I want to never wash it ’cause you once held it.

  • The biggest limitation I see with sliders right now is their length. Having the ability to adjust the length through a telescopic or “modular sections” system is one thing I find lacking in sliders.
    Otherwise the usual requirements apply:
    - Support for both video and stills time lapse (smooth movement)
    - system link to the camera for (shoot, move, shoot) ability
    - easy maintenance of parts: eg. lubrication
    - the ability to break down a unit for easy transportation is key. People want to travel to take individual time lapses. That means carrying around something that is 6 foot long up a mountain or similar, which is less than ideal.

  • Broseman says:

I would love one that had smooth variable speeds and could be easy to set up!

  • matt says:

A slider should be light and compact for easy travel conditions.
It should be easy to set up and pack down with not many parts to reduce weight and can be stored in a hand waterproof case for harsh weather conditions. A modern slider should have interactive features such as a good solid motor thta could be run through a simple remote or even a wifi connection.

If i won the slider would be going to a good home were i would use it for timlapse work with my new canon 60d and my timelapse camera collection.

i would just like to say that i think this blog is a really useful resource for anyone who wants to know more about the products on the market.

  • MychalB says:

I want a slider that is compact, reliable and all-around versatile that fits my budget as well as my needs (which includes a lot of travel and indoor/outdoor shooting.) Is this mystery slider the one I’ve been looking for? Hope I win so I can find out :)

It is not quite clear what you are promoting (no pun intended) but I WANT ONE!

  • Krista Long says:

I want a slider that can be incorporated with multiple brands and accessories.

  • Ed says:

At least 36″, stable/jitter free, lightweight.

  • Shane Pikelin says:

I would love this because it would add a lot of versatility to my filming. I’m shooting a DVD soon and I don’t have much equipment and it would be a great addition for me.

  • Kaiel E. says:

What I look for in any piece of gear is the ease of setup. Anything that can save me time on a shoot and get it’s job done is worth it’s weight in gold.

  • SFMW says:

Oooh! I’ve just been shopping around for a motorized slider! Just in time! Keeping fingers crossed.

Smooth / precise motion, easy setup. and lightweight.

  • Gerhard Schroeder says:

  • Dragos says:

I would like in a Motorized Slider stability and smoothness.

  • Tomas Rojter says:

I know the motorized slider will allow me to capture amazing nature and daily basis shots beyond my eye imagination. I’ve never seen one before, in Argentina is really hard to get them. Only on the web. I just have a cheap one which doesn’t slide smooth at all.
Soo, Olivia, I do not use twitter but I have Instagram (@tomirojter)…can that count? My feelings and creativity are expressed through pictures and videos. A motorized slider could change my life.

ps. I will be turning 25 tomorrow here in Utah!

I want in on the motorized slider! : )

  • Gai says:

I want easy set up, portability, and durability for my fantastic shots!

This will be a great addition to do smooth close ups of anything instead of using my hands!

  • Always wanted to to motorised time-lapse, and could be a nice tool in my arsenal.

  • Brenda Limon says:

I’d like a motorized slider that I can program for time-lapse photography, with a dedicated battery, to make it portable and that I could mount on either one or two tripod mounts. Thanks!

  • Simon Cade says:

I’d love to have cinematic slider shots, without having to trust my hands to do the movements! timelapse would be awesome as well!

I would like to see a remote motorized head, options for motion timelapses. :)

  • Adam Reder says:

I would enjoy a slider with adjustable legs to change the angles of my shots as well as motion control

  • Eric B. says:

I’m a beginner when it comes to shooting video and this would look great when I shoot my little niece’s baptismal party in 2 months! I would use it everyday if I won and would be a great addition to my growing “arsenal” of video equipment. Whoever wins this is lucky.

  • David Sanchez says:

That would be nice to have

  • on shum says:

I really need good control of the movement speed on the slider for time lapse

  • Jack D says:

I want a slider that is smooth as butter, compact, and light. And most importantly… ready… ready… AFFORDABLE!!! :)

  • Hein says:

I would like a slider that can be “folded” up and stored in a camera bag or backpack. It would make it more convenient for the occasional video shooter.

  • Eric Baesel says:

I want this because I can’t pull a steady slider move to save my life.

  • matt wills says:

    1. 3/8″ mounts for camera head and tripod attachment.
    2. built in level and adjustable feet.
    3. able to support heavy loads.
    4. durable.
    5. rechargeable battery pack
    6. adjustable speed ranging from very slow to very fast.
    7. FREE!

  • Patrick Harris says:

Smoothness with exceptional control. Since it’s motorized I’d want remote (wireless device) setup and control. And it has to be rugged, no sense in taking a pillow to a rock fight.

  • Dave Stone says:

I don’t have a slider yet… I have also never had the opportunity to use one… I would love to get a motorizedslider to grab some incredible shots! Thanks

  • Matt Adams says:

I’ve seen and used DIY sliders and dollys and if a slider is over complicated, I’m not going to want to use it. I want a slider that’s easy to attach to a tripod, easy to mount my camera onto and also has a motor on it for timelapse shots.

  • Hoang Lam says:

Important things I’d like in a motorized sliders: reliability, multiple speed settings, lightweight and durability.

  • I would love to win this slider because I do a lot of video production and Im in college so I can’t afford one at all. I want to do films/videos/timelapses! Any thing really!

  • Alex Forey says:

A robust slider with smooth bearings and precise control. Hopefully weather-proofed so it’s usable in the rain. Something with a lot of control when it comes to the different aspects of timelapse movement, such as interval, speed, etc.

  • Aaron Weiss says:

I’d love to see something that isn’t belt based. On some of the diy CNC machines, a lead screw operates the axis with a stepper motor. Down side is it can be heavy. Upside is its extremely durable and accurate. Is it feasible? Heck, how would I know. It just looks good on paper;) Also, make it pretty. Yeah……. pretty.

  • Tyrone Gooden says:

A nice viable speed control slider that works both vertically and horizontally would be lovely – like you
    T

  • Jorge M says:

Obviously buttery smooth shots are hard to achieve on a prosumer level slider, so that would be my only expectation.

  • Renee Reighart says:

I would make use of a motorized slider to do multiple pass effects shots, so one that you could write a script to control would be nice.

  • Brandon says:

Realistically, the one aspect of a slider I’m looking for over anything else is durability. Few times have I had a slider (non friction based) that would not give out either under weight, or due to the circumstances in which I’m shooting in.

  • I would like a motorized slider to create time-lapses.

  • Marq Riley says:

    Smoothness. Simplicity. Sexiness.

  • J-Mar says:

Hey Olivia! I’ve been a constant follower of your blog, youtube and twitter for little over a year now and what I would want in a motorized slider is that it provides the smoothest shots, easy to use, and that its portable to take with me when I go and do shoots. I remember watching your video on the 4ft glideshot crane sometime back in 2011 and that was the reason why I went and bought one for myself! haha. Thanks for all the useful videos!

  • Chris Lee says:

Portability, Adjustability and Decent price/performance. It would be interesting if it had a motorized panning/tilting capability along with the linear motion.

  • John Rey says:

What I want in a Motorized Slider:

    1. smooth & precise sliding
    2. manual sliding without the motor
    3. camera connection cable for shoot-move-shoot
    4. great interface and almost endless possibilities to adjust speed etc.

  • Paul says:

I want slider that is the perfect size to pickup and move quickly and easy to setup. And of course smooth motion.

  • Ian G says:

What would I like in a motorized slider?

    Smooth motion (obviously)
    Good battery life (preferably rechargable)
Good balance between portability and track length (3ft or less is ideal)
    Options for timelapse

I would LOVE the ability to do vertical motorized slides

  • wooac says:

Time lapse with motor motion on the slider.

  • roinides says:

What I want in a slider is smoothness control and light weight !

It must be able to use in many axes.

Speed control. Relatively lightweight. Panning capability would really be awesome.

  • I want the motorized slider so bad!!!!! Please….

  • I would love a motorized slider!! I’m looking at doing a major time lapse film and really need one :)

  • daryl vallez says:

    Easy to program.

  • Adrian says:

I want good portabillity and still no lack of features which the “Big” -ones got.

  • Aaron Lee says:

I would want very slow speed settings capable of long duration moving timelapse photography, as well as the ability to tilt the slider for vertical motion for video projects.
I would also like to see a decent base to the slider that doesn’t necessarily require a tripod mounting. Something that could be easily placed on the ground or various other platforms with some DIY padding rather than spending the money to get a second tripod to make sure the slider (and your camera) doesn’t fall to the ground.

  • David Cairncross says:

A consistent motor that doesn’t jitter at a slow speed. Also silent at all speed settings so as not to interfere with camera audio and vibrate into the video also.

  • I would love to use this slider for my future productions! I am an audio engineer at The Arts Institute of Las Vegas and have been freelancing as an audio engineer and videographer for the past 3 years. I have started doing Quinceñieras and weddings as a hobby and have really grown to love doing them. I think this slider would give me a real cinematic look to my future videos and if I won I would be so grateful! I am 22 years old and think I have a bright future in digital cinema so this slider would definitely help get me the start on making more professional videos! Being a college student I could never afford one though, this would be a blessing!

  • Dane says:

I was looking for a decent slider even better one that was motorized and happened upon your youtube channel. Awesome work btw!

  • Would love a motorized Slider so i can do some motion time lapses and speed controlled dolly movements! HOOKE ME UP!!! lol

  • Neil says:

I want my slider to be stable, smooth, easy to set-up and easy to transport. Not bending at each end when center-mounted on a tripod would also be cool! :)

I’d love to have a slider with a motor as I’m just getting into timelapse shooting.

  • Tyler K says:

In a slider, I would like it to be super smooth with sturdy and strong quality materials at an affordable price!

  • Chad says:

I am a startup filmmaker and I do not have a slider as of yet, and am looking at a lot of DIY solutions. Not many of them include motorization. I am probably going to have to design and build that on my own. If I win this contest however, problem solved! \o/

    Thanks for doing the contest!

  • Facundo says:

I want it to be adaptable to different situations and ambients.

  • I dont have slider yet and I REEEEALLY like to have one.. :) Im just a simple photogtapher / videographer in Hawaii and I want to make a name for myself here…. I do wedding, documentaries and short vidoes and this slider would bring a whole new look to my work…. :)

  • jen says:

I need a slider that has smooth consistent motion, something that I still need to practice on a manual slider.

  • I love OliviaTech.com!
In a motorized slider, I am looking for something to add versatility to my work. I have been stationary on a standard tripod for too long, and building a dolly is out of the question as of right now, so a nice lightweight slider would be a dream come true.

  • Tex Crowley says:

Looks like fun. I could sure use one since I’m trying to get my filmmaking career off the ground. Thx for the offer!!!

  • Henry says:

    Smoothness and quality build.

  • I want something affordable with smooth movement and something that is very portable.

  • I want my motorized slider to come to smooth stopping point at the end of the slide. It also needs variable speed settings.

  • Paul says:

I want a motorized slider for timelapse and event videography.

  • Peter Waiting says:

I want my slider to be slicker than Slick Rick in an oil slick. The motor must act like a human with soft starts and stops. Taking it slow when it needs to with shoot move shoot timelapse control and during video moves, as quiet as mouse nibbling on cheese in a cat sanctuary.

  • Pedro Cardoso says:

    Hi there,

The ultimate motorized slider would have a perfect glide, full motor options/settings and just the final touch would be the wifi or bluetooth connectivity to be able to setup via an iPhone or any other smartphone/tablet/laptop.

  • John Valenton says:

I could really use this right now… I want to shoot a how to cook blog on YouTube because a lot of people have been asking me to show them my recipes on instagram.

  • I have tried my hand at make a slider many times but now that i have upgraded cameras need to upgrade gear still wondering which it is …

  • Fabian says:

Awesome thanks for your reviews and videos

  • Lorenzo C says:

Good bearings, smooth, portable yet tough and an option to use the slider without using the motor.

  • Ryan says:

Smooth consistent motion, with both normal live action speeds and minuscule time lapse speed settings.

  • Steven says:

I always thought a good slider would just be a tank in general. Tough material, but lite (carbon fiber maybe? Not even sure that’s possible, but a shooter can dream). It’s gotta last and stand up to the elements. Also, I think it would be sweet if you could put a pan/tilt robotic head on it for super creative shots. It’s gotta hold, maybe 5-8lbs. You never know what people expect to load on a slider. Adjustable feet is always a plus. A tool to clean the rail. The bottom line is my perfect slider would be a frankenslider. The best of every available slider on the market today. I think $650 would be a professional and fair price to place on something like that. It’s funny how this one article blew up the internet because something is up for grabs. What’s sad is that 90% of these people commenting today have never paid any attention to this blog. It’s a really good guide to pulling off pro shots with a budget. Same goes for Emm over at cheesycam. You guys seriously rock and have saved me a ton of time with your research and tests. As an unemployed/freelance videographer, I’d seriously put your slider to work. My videos would take a huge leap in production value. Love the blog Olivia. Keep up the good work!

  • Steve says:

In a motorized slider it would be nice to have one motor that is capable of doing any speed you set it for. Most sliders either have slow for time-laps shots and faster motors for regular shooting. Would be great to have one motor for everything. Also it would be nice to have the drive belt built into the slider itself rather than having to connect it every time you want to use it. Also it would be great if you don’t have to carry around a battery pack to power the slider. How hard would it be to have a built in connection for Sony batteries onto the back of the motor that attaches to the slider? Those are a few ideas I have that would really help I think. :-)

  • Jay G says:

I’d like one that didn’t sound like it was charging the X-Buster while it’s running.

  • alex jeon says:

A folding slider would be awesome

  • I need a slider that can do video and timelaps besides being portable and offer a smooth motion.

  • Rigoberto says:

What I want in a motorized slider would be the ability to control and move the slider through an app.

  • Jon Walley says:

Awesome!! Its gotta be smooth, tough, have the flexibility to handle all shooting terrain and be at a REASONABLE price!! Ps. Olivia is rad.

  • ChaD says:

I’d like a motorized slider that can be programmed to primarily do some smooth, evenly paced moves. It be a great bonus if it were also programmable to do timelapse shots.

  • Steve Hildreth says:

For me, I need a slider to just add some motion to my shoots. And it’d be nice if that motor was quiet.

  • Alexandr Miroch says:

I would like to have a counterweight for my camera in every slider, actually! As for me, it does make sense!

  • Devin says:

A robust design, with smooth movement, and strong well built electronic components.

  • James Lee says:

I’m looking for a steady slider that can be used for time-lapses to enhance my storytelling by introducing more effective establishing shots.

  • Michael Tatalovich says:

Ease of use, smooth action, ability to finely control motor speed, light weight, easy to assemble, accept various camera mounting options, stable no rattle, able to handle a modest amount of equipment weight, and cool looking.

  • Jeff says:

Smoothness is what I really want in a slider.

  • Brian says:

I would love a slider that is portable, easy to set up and functions at a professional level!

  • Eliu says:

    want in a Motorized Slider!!!!

    it looks perfect in size

  • Jeff Macam says:

Been wanting one of these for years and can’t afford a good one. :]

  • David Moriya says:

I want to see a speed control and a motor-free option on the same device. I love panning in shots, but I can’t do it too well right now. As an aspiring filmmaker, I want to improve my toolset.

  • Kaway Lau says:

I want it to be extremely easy to assembly and use…

  • Josh says:

I would use a motorized slider to help me create smooth shots on almost any flat surface. I’d want it to help me make awesome, dramatic, low angle shots for my next short film: “Forgotten”. I’d also like to use it for real-estate videos and overall help me develop as a filmmaker. Thanks!!

  • Michael says:

What I want in a motorirez slider is, adjustable speed and smooth motion, strongly build, but light weight and durable.

  • Grant says:

Intervolometer-like settings for time-lapse work & the ability to rotate a baseplate or head.

  • Diana says:

It’s not the slider, it’s me! I can’t make those super smooth movements and I’d love a motorized slider for that and for time lapse.

  • Cfreak says:

1st I do want it regardless of what suggestions I write below. I could really use it!

IMHO a motorized slider needs to be :
    1. Quiet, I mean really quiet, so you can record audio in a quiet interior.
    2. Smooth.
    3. Have precision control, so you can feather the start and the stop, like a professional grip would on a real dolly.
    4. A timelapse function. The guy over at Mi-Lapse is using an open source code for his timelapse controller for interleaved exposures.

So if you guys can develop one that has those features above, I might buy one sometime.

  • Robert Shaver says:

I build my own slider, but would really like a nice motorize one. For video work I’d like it to be able set the running speed, start ramp and end ram. The I push the start button and the slider would ramp up to the running speed. When I push the stop button it would ramp smoothly down to a stop.

  • Liam Kepinski-Nicholson says:

With a slider, I want perfectly smooth motion, and the versatility to be able to drop it down anywhere and get some shots.

The one I use at the moment is one I made myself, it dose not have legs so i need flat surfaces or 2 tripods, which is cumbersome and hard to travel with.

Really love the idea of a motorised one though, i could get some sweet panning time-lapses xD

  • Tom Swiss says:

Affordable and portable. I need a motorized slider for timelapse. I am assuming smoothness is not an issue.

  • Sara says:

I want to win this for my boyfriend. I know he would want this for the smooth movement and control. Thanks!

  • Greg says:

    Hi!
In a slider I would look for portability, quick set up/pack up times for getting those essential smooth shots on a limited time frame. And a long battery life/convenient power solution for shooting in areas away from civilisation.
    Thanks!

  • Carlos Madrigal says:

I simply want a slider touched by you. I was probably the first in getting your book and would love to be the first getting this slider :-)

  • Tom says:

As a photographer and film maker I realise the importance of a slider. If its motorised then it should have time lapse features as well as easy to use normal functions. Lightweight and easy to break apart for travel are two other features that I would be looking for.
    Cheers, tom

  • In a motorized slider I’d like smooth starts and stops, the ability to power for decent periods of time, the ability to quickly go ‘manual’ and control by hand, lastly a firm, secure mounting point for a canter tripod plate (on a shorter slider)

  • Andrew Ito says:

I’m looking for a slider that has the capability to do slow timelapse moves but versatile enough to use for a normal speed slider move. Also, the ability to ramp the speed manually at the beginning and end of moves.

  • Jun :D says:

Please let me win this! I’ve been looking for a good slider so I can finally make my short film! All my equipment is diy and this would be the last thing I need so I could be the new Ben Affleck and make the new Argo! :D

  • Dumitru Tira says:

Portability and stability are the main requirements, smoothness of operation and cost are also important. I’d use the hell out of this in real estate videos.

  • I’d love to see a motorized slider that ‘learns’ from your hand movements. It would have to be incorporated with a motorized pan/tilt head. You would manipulate the camera from start to end point (adjusting it’s pan and tilt position) and then dial in the total time. Easy as can be!

  • elliott s. says:

The most important qualities for a motorized slider that I would want are ranked in this order:

    Portability
    Consistently Smooth
    Affordability
Eye-catching form factor and design…meaning it must have some sweet graphics, but also enough blank area to fill with tons of random stickers that illustrate my brand loyalties.

    PICK ME =]

  • To me a motorized slider must at least have the ability to start and stop smoothly and loop certain moves. Of course, if a motor is not needed it should also be controlled by hand easily, all whilst mounted on a tripod. That will get you very far with timelapses and dolly shots.

  • Peter says:

I would like this motorized slider because it is a cheaper more ‘bang for your buck’ version of a dolly track. And plus its motorized… Its gonna be smooth!

  • jrbeez24 says:

    Howdy,
I’d like a lightweight, easy to use, simple, and strong slider that can fit into a larger camera bag and that has good battery life and easy to use controls.

  • Samuel says:

Motor. Longer than two feet. Tough in the elements. Silent slide. DYNOMITE!

  • Victor says:

wow.. lots of people wanting the slider… I would want one signed by Olivia though

  • Granite says:

I would like to see a motorized slider with a pan-tilt head that has programmable directionality built in. Imagine being able to set timing for not only X-Y axis dolly moves and also the direction the camera is pointing.

You could use this to maintain the framing of a subject during an interview or of an object during a timelapse or all other sorts of creative possibilities.

  • fnsgr says:

I would like a motorized slider to be silent!

  • asim says:

    Can I be the winner :D ?

  • Bj santos says:

I want one that does time lapse! Take a photo then moves a bit.

  • Kristen Achziger says:

I would LOVE a motorized slider that’s super smooth and remote controlled!

  • Michael says:

I would love a motorized slider that has some form of built in power cables that can be used for a camera and accessories. I know it’s unlikely because of all the different cameras out there but if it was some standard jack that you could adapt per camera that would be great and really clean up your work area for long shoots.

    Also…
    Portable
    Lightweight
    Smooth Start and Stop
    Inexpensive

I know thats a lot to ask, but I can dream.

  • Michael Williams says:

I would enjoy a slider so that I can wow the brides I shoot for with some great time lapse footage.

  • antalw says:

As a beginning cinematographer, this looks very promising, do want one!

  • Tom Scarborough says:

As in just leaving college im broke but im a massive gear lover your channel and those like it are my only source of awesome production gear and all its sexiness. Yeah id love this amazing slider but you’d also be rekindling my love of the whole culture :D

  • Dave Smith says:

I would like this slider as I am trying to help out the local music scene making decent videos, and adding a slider to our slowly growing collection of hardware would be something rather special!

  • David Kong says:

I’d love a QUIET motorized slider! Most motors are so loud that they’re impossible to use when recording sound.

    – David Kong

  • simon says:

i need a good slider for filming wedding dresses for my sister :)

  • Michael says:

As a young filmmaker, I do a lot of walking and biking around so mobility is a must for me. I need to be able to bring it to whatever location necessary. To get prettier shots, you have to stand in front of prettier things, and to get there, you need a nice portable slider!

  • kent wong says:

That would be awesome to win this! I bet its a Varavon Slider. Olivia uses Varavon Sliders often. I like to have a smooth slide with the rails on the in inner track to protect it from bumps. Also a motorized head would be awesome!

  • Olivia : I would like to pay it forward with my wonderful kids. It’s not for me but for us. Myself and my 3 incredible inspirations that tell me how they want to be like me. I want to show them how to make people smile through video and photography. If I can open creativity in their minds, the outputs can be limitless. I want to see what I can’t even imagine are possibilities.

  • Bob says:

I have been trying to build a motorized option for a slider for almost 2 years. i have a drawn full of gear motors, servos, controllers and various other parts, bits and pieces I have bought on line. I am still no further ahead. I am trying to the right combo of control options so I can use it for time lapse as well as regular video. Motors just don’t seem to be able to handle that full range of speed.

  • Shun Lee says:

    Smoothness

  • Javier Roman says:

I want a slider that does smooth movements without me having to waste any of my own energy pushing it. So it is very cool to have a machine doing all the work :)

  • Ryan says:

    SMOOOOOOTH!

  • david says:

I don’t have a slider yet… but ive always wanted one… I would love to get a motorizedslider to grab some incredible shots and i would like it to be compact so that all you need is 1 tripod to stabilize it. i would love for it to have bubbles on it so that you can see if everything is leveled. would love for it to have a bag. would also love for it to be strong and very light weight.
would love for it to be affordable and have options in the future for upgrades.

  • Naoki Onimaru says:

I would like a slider to have smooth movement and be very durable. it should be light weight, unique and look awesome. The controls must be simple and it should be quick and easy to set up. The problem with some sliders in the market today is that it can bend in certain places because of the weight of the camera.

  • Ryan Boodhai says:

Started making videos on YT and would live to have a slider to create better videos!

  • Sarynelli Valeirn says:

I simply want a slider that is of high quality and provides seamless and professional looking shots. Sure, I can get that with one that isn’t motorized but I think a motor is more reliable than the timing of my hand :)

  • A motorized slider will not only allow me to be more creative when producing videos but also will make my viewers more interested in watching. would be a great addition to the bag of trick I call my video gear :)

  • Leandro Solinho says:

What I would want in a motorized slider:

    Durable
    Water resistant
Ropes, bearings and buttons protected from dust

  • mark fraunhofer says:

    smooth and quiet operation.

  • Jaymee says:

    Timelapse & Stop Motion. ;)

  • Unfortunately I can’t afford a slider. I’m not sophisticated. It should be a hybrid slider, so I can use the motorization and when required a crank for manually control.

  • Doug Buchanan says:

Variable speed motor for different types of time lapse videos. Ramp up and down speed at start and stop. Maybe programmable for different speeds during sections of the run. Auto-off at end of run or with a jam without a trigger (off when resistance spikes).

  • JAM1CHICAGO says:

I want a solid slider with a wide footprint, I like to use a fluid head on it and would love to be able to use the handle on the head without too much give in the stability of the slider during tilting forward and back. Would put this to great use!

  • Jarred Tsinnie says:

I want one! GL to all.

  • Hey Olivia,
At LinkCentral.tv we share life change stories every week in our Hispanic Online Church Experience. • I need a smooth, silent, lightweight slider.

  • Loic Oswald says:

What I would want in a motorized slider:

    - good quality/price (less 800$)

  • Rob says:

Would make my shoots look so much smoother and cleaner.

  • Mathias Sandvik says:

One of the biggest problems with normal sliders is to get a smooth slide, whats basically causing this is “you”, by having a motorized slider you get the opportunity to remove your hands from the it and prevent your slides to be un-even. other than that i’d want a motorized slider to be portable and easy to set up as well as a long lasting battery life if the circumstances not allow you to recharge it.

  • Oscar Torres says:

1)I would love to have time lapse control.
2)also wireless interface. so that I can control the
slider through my iPhone or iPad.
    3) Slider that moves at different variable speeds!
4)Finally, a slider that can have unlimited amounts of extensions to it.

Love ya Olivia! you are a princess and worthy to be honored, cherished and valued.
Thanks for all the info you give us through youtube!

    blessings,

    Oscar Torres

  • Jeremy A says:

    Timelapse capabilities, please!

  • Ronald gesualdo says:

What would like in a slider ? Extra smooth movement even when using a tripod head for panning, and stability when mounted on tripod or stands

  • Johnson says:

I just want to make awesome timelapses

  • Rasan Kankanamge says:

    It should be super smooth
    Allow Timelapse with suttle movements
shouldnt be too long, portable to carry around
    work with Iphones
    Less wire clutter
    Rechargeable and longer battery life
Must have its own feet instead of a tripod this way it would be easy setup
    must include head
it should be all assembled right out of the box
    shouldnt have sharp edges
    Legs must be adjustable
    Able to carry heavier cameras

  • Maciej Kobus says:

Portability and stability are the main requirements, smoothness of operation and cost are also important. I’d use the hell out of this in real estate videos.

  • chad says:

ease of use smooth movements and number 1 portability and durability

  • Lukas Peto says:

I would like to see a motorized slider that can do a motorized pan and tilt as well as the normal left to right slider movement.

  • Nicholas Ventura says:

I really need a motorized slider because I am really into timelapse photography. Currently i have resorted to borrowing my friends slider and having to manual move the camera along the track for each picture which is very tedious and not smooth at all. I would love to win this slider because it would help me achieve the smooth timelapse videos I have been hoping for. Thanks for doing this giveaway!

  • Fred Albert says:

I have always wanted to do some night time lapse work. For me a motorized slider needs to be able to handle small synchronized movements to help with taking a great time lapse sequence.

  • Bc Lee says:

    Two words: Time Lapse!

  • Paul says:

As a beginning filmmaker with little capital, every piece of professional equipment is important. A slider would add tremendously to the value of my productions. As for what I want in a slider, that it simple. Quality. Quality in build, ease of use, and set up.

Thank you for the contest. And thank you for your Blog.

  • I want a motorized slider to be smooth and versatile! Portability is a plus too!

  • João Abreu says:

Hi Olivia! I’m from Portugal and I’m only 15 years old. I’m an amateur of filming, including recoding videos, editing, etc!
I really enjoy making some great quality videos but sometimes its hard when we don’t have the right tools, so I would love to have this motorized slider to make some kind of low ground camera angle for parkour, bicycle or unicycle.
I have a GoPro, and this would also be very useful to make time lapses!!
    Good luck everybody,
    João Abreu

  • vince says:

Looking for a motorized slider with reverse option, memory, (recognize its position on the slider). One that also give the option to only travel half way on the sliding rig.

  • In following up on our documentary, ‘Ikkatsu: The Roadless Coast”, we’re doing a followup film in Alaska next year. I’d love to have a motorized slider with consistent motion and time lapse capability for some time lapse shoots of the volcano, Mt. Augustine, that we will be filming on.

  • Jeff Kwok says:

Something smooth and stable! Length is also good

  • I like an intuitive display the motor controls whether it’s digital or analogue controls, if it isn’t easy to figure out, if the manual is a necessity rather than a help reference, then forget it! How to function the stupid thing shouldn’t overshadow my need to make a good shot!

  • Darren Sager says:

A motorized slider that has consistent speed would be SO nice over a hand slider that is subject to small speed changes due to the “human factor”. A rechargeable on board motor would be nice! LONG lasting batteries for the motor and a clean system that doesn’t gunk up so the slides stay nice and consistent!

  • I need, I want a smoot motorized slider with suficient power to use it in vertical shots

  • Mark says:

I want a motorized slider with awesomeness in it, like the one you are holding right there, Olivia. I want one. =)

  • David says:

What do I want in a motorized slider? I want a motorized slider that can transport me around all day, like the machine that moves wheelchairs up and downstairs. But I guess a motorized slider that gave me super smooth slider movements would be awesome too!

  • I want a motorized slider because Im an indie musican and director, and I’ve been planning my music video and I def need a motorized slider to capture the image I have in my head :D I think this slider will work wonders and I would try combining it with a compact jib like the “trapizist” to capture some dynamic motion shots.

    Thanks for the opportunity :)

  • Charlie says:

Oh man, I’ve been dying to try moving time-lapse shots. Would love to win this!

  • steve says:

I want a slider that can give me the exact same motion each time. So I may focus more on my actors and not the slider since i’m a one may crew.

  • Gsolid says:

Ok I have a Konova k2 which is simply to wonky to use, I left it in my car and I guess it warped it.
I love the idea of a slider but in practice I can’t get that smooth motion, I always get a bit if jitter that I need to fix in post

  • I would love to have to have a motorized slider that can easily integrate with other brands. The slider functions effortlessly together with the motor and the controller, while maintaining smooth acquisitions of imagery. Ok that last on was way too pretentious. I just need a slider that works in the field so I don’t have to try grabbing the shot 15 times before the right one works in my project.

  • Alejandro says:

    I want it :)

  • Eric says:

In a slider, I would like to have anything that’s not home made. Never mind, any slider would be fine… even a homemade one…

  • What do I want in a motorized slider? Programmable steps, to have the ability to easily program the slider to go to a specific point, and then to another point, even if it’s backwards. You could program it to coincide with a scene.

The ability to have a programmable head that also tilts

    Must be quiet

    easy to keep clean

  • Michael says:

Glider is great, they can give you the movie look in your video. If I can have one it would be great and will definitely improve my video shoot .
Hope you can give me one. Thanks.

  • Azli says:

I can’t afford to buy a motorized slider because it’s way too expensive. The things that i want to achieve from this slider are consistent speed and time lapse. It will definitely improve my shots that i can’t achieve ever since i got a camera.

  • Francisco says:

I would love to have a slider that has variable speed setting. I would love to get this one.

  • Colin says:

Just basic camera motions with an DSLR for timescape.

  • alex says:

I would like to see a slider that has fluid movement horizontal and vertical meaning that it can do a vertical lift as well a horizontal slide. I would also want an option to attach an intervalometer in order to do time lapse as well as video . Having a manual over ride function is also very important because batteries don’t always last all day. The biggest thing I would love to see in a motorized slider is the ability to handle larger cameras and dslr’s Im a film student with not much $$ and find myself constantly switching from large cinema camera to small dslr’s depending on the project or budget.

  • Joshua says:

I can not afford a slider, but what I would love to see is, very smooth motion with roller bearings, a smartphone app to control the slider or even a remote of some kind, variable speeds of control, time lapse features, manual control (use slider by hand) and it can Be mounted in the Center to a single tripod

  • Greg Harrell says:

No matter who wins, you should have them make a review video about it! That would be fun! I’ve never owned a slider before. I just recently bought a jib so my extra cash for photo/video gear is all spent until the next job comes. I’d love to own a mechanical slider. It would be perfect for my one man show set up. I could have my T1i unmanned going slow on the slider, and my 7D on the jib. It’s perfect! Hope I get picked!

  • John Chan says:

Would be great to have a motorized slider with variable speed for time lapse and can move my rig vertically (upwards!).

  • Virgilio Ramirez says:

What I would like in a motorized slider is
    1. Variable speed.
    2. Light weight and ultra compact.
    3. All terain feet.
    4. Easy and fast set up.
    5. Durable drive belt
    7. Extra screw and minimal equipment to assemble
    8. Be able to control via an iphone app.

  • Chris says:

    - Smooth from end to end
    - lightweight and travel friendly
    - Remote control that controls start and stop, as well as speed.
    - Durable
    - affordable

I’d like to see a motorized slider with a solar recharging attachment so I don’t run out of juice on long shoots!

  • I totally could use one of these I hope I win!!! You’re the best Olivia! :)

  • Abe says:

I dont need a slider i got one that i self made. I just think i love you Olivia!!!!

  • Casey says:

I have a friend who is just getting his feet wet into video production and I think this tool would be a fantastic gift for him to further his talents in the field. ^-^

  • Johny007 says:

I would love to have a slider, that would be able to make fluid start and stops, control my camera and also that could be mounted on one tripod.

  • Omar Abushaikha says:

As a film student, I usually have little to no budget and a very limited crew. Having a motorized slider would first of all, give me something I could NEVER afford; and also it would be easy to use in films where we can’t always have someone behind the camera to give some dynamic movement. This slider would become my new best friend!

  • Sean says:

    bombproof reliability of consistent movement.

  • Gareth says:

I want the slider because I am a student and cannot buy a motorized slider at the moment. I also am getting started shooting timelapses and a motorized system will add more movement to the shots.

  • Garrison C says:

I would like one that is small and portable yet still large enough for some long shots. Easy to use and super smooth with different speeds would be nice too. Having a motorized one enables shots to be smoother than a hand operated one.

  • Kyle Brandon says:

I want a slider that has variable speeds so I can do interesting time lapse photography

  • everettej says:

This would be perfect for my next music video shoot

  • Arash D says:

The most important thing for me is smoothness especially in of center situations for example MKIII tilted upwards with 24-105mm will cause a substantial moment to the dolly and I expect it to work just fine even with such a moment. Then of course portability.

  • Eric Jolley says:

It’s already been said, but my biggest requirement in a motorized slider is simply that it moves smoothly. As in silky smooth.

  • Aston says:

The things I want in a motorised slide is the ability to pack it up and take with me to all my shoots, also for it to be relatively smooth and be ability to make it run at slow increment or fast/normal speed ether by switching out a motor or a single motor being able to do both.
Those three element are what I think are important and would like to see in this slider

  • João Correia says:

I want a slider with good vertical control. It’s hard to get stable images while doing a vertical motion.

  • Justin Curry says:

    Looks like fun

  • johnfoster says:

needs to have documeted interface so I can my own controller to it.

  • Louis Aidala says:

    - Smooth from end to end
    - lightweight and travel friendly.

    Thanks a Bunch

    -Louis Aidala

  • Armani Smith says:

I would love to receive this wonderful opportunity of being the lucky person to take this bad boy home. At the moment I was just thinking to myself damn I would love to get a affordable slider to add to my arsenal for better shots and without having to try to fix stabilization in post (usually always looks crappy when I do that).

Having steady shots would make such beautiful images for me and my two person production company consisting on me and my sister. She would greatly appreciate the slider too so I wouldn’t have to spend any more money on equipment thus saving us stress haha

I know theres a lot of people who are submitting to this but regardless I’m a huge fan of OliviaTech keep up the great work. I check the site everyday.

  • Mike says:

Light, compact, smooth is what I need to make some sweet shots.

  • I would positively adore a slider that isn’t the product of me swearing in my garage watching YouTube trying to fix the janky homebrew I’ve been using. The very idea of a motorized slider that is smooth and doesn’t rely on my shaky hands is the stuff of dreams. Variable speed, relatively light weight, smooth action, portability, and overall ease of use would change my world in oh so many ways, principally by making my clients smile- which is always a very good thing. Not only would the look of my films improve in ways I can only imagine, the guys would be envious of the girl with the cool slider. I like that idea a lot.

  • feha says:

    Hi,
i need speed controlled and consistency in motion, and this would save my life.

  • Darany Lieu says:

What i want in a motorized slider is lightweight, easy to disassemble for fasting traveling, reasonable priced with the high quality parts and movement

  • Germaine Ferrer says:

I mostly do paintball and convention videos for fun so I need a slider that is portable and easy to set up, to be used in any situation in a fast paced and unpredictable environment.

I would also do time lapses with it so I need to have full control over the motor operation in terms of how fast/slow I want it to move and it needs to be smooth. If there is a screen it would be nice that it light up for night time lapses.

It needs to be battery powered with a hand crank in case the batteries die. If it has a proprietary battery then it should also have the option to use standard batteries like AA. Having the option to hook it up to an external power source is a plus but shouldn’t be the only way to power it.

It needs to be durable because it is going to get shot with a few paintballs and it will be knocked around a few times.

The motor needs to be strong enough to move vertically up and down.

It should also be able to move freely or detach from the motor so I can operate it by hand.

  • I would love it if the slider had the motor and computer built into one unit.

  • Aaron Yih says:

Sliders truly make a huge difference in video quality. I made a homemade rig, but it is jerky and terrible! I would love to use this to spruce up my amateur videos with sliding timelapse and more. Thanks OliviaTech!

  • Victor Tecson says:

Motorized sliders should have a smooth start and stop, without a jerking motion.

  • John Ulisses says:

Just starting my cinematography career and this would be an excellent stepping stone. I love the smoothness and serene look sliders provide. and that is what i want from a slider.

  • Keegan Morris says:

Obviously, sliders add a lot of value to a production. For a burgeoning videographer and aspiring filmmaker, a slider would be amazing. Also, I really like making timelapses, so the motor feature would be a huge asset. Thanks for running this awesome giveaway!

  • Samuel Rowan says:

I look for smooth movement and timelapse capability in a slider.

  • jayhas says:

Probably a good replacement for my DIY slider! (shown a few time on this site).

Seriously, portability and quick setup is my priority in a slider. Plus of course it has to be stable and smooth.

A long scroll to get down here but there you go, my first step to win this giveaway:)

  • I’d like if it had some noise reduction.

  • kyle haye says:

I want a smooth panning slider!

    Thanks!

  • Ed Popham says:

I can’t dicide on which slider to buy? This would solve my problem !

  • Zygimantas says:

A motorized slider must have a sensored brushless motor, for it’s effectiveness you can do the perfect smooth camera movement, have the power to move heavy setups while having quite a small motor. Motors are new type, their advantages, power, maintenance free and other pros over regular brushed motor are well known. You can also use it as stepper motor.
Brushless motor need a controller. You can do it programmable and controllable through itself, pc, by wire, and wireless (smartphone). It can do the magic with such system when combined with good rails and bearing carriage (you can also add and a motorized head or any other thing to setup).
the perfect slider would be a good geared slider, but having an option to add electric motor, controller, battery. You can use it for video shooting or timelapse. you can make compact sliders, and big ones for big setups and rigs and cameras.

If I win this slider, which are You giving away – I would be the happiest man on earth and would throw my Diy slider away, because it’s so freaking annoying and clumsy:)))

    Sincerely,

    • Zygimantas says:

sorry i’ve made some mistake, it’s corrected here:

“the perfect slider would be a good ROLLER BEARING slider, but having an option to add brushless electric motor, controller, battery. You can use it for video shooting or timelapse. you can make compact sliders, and big ones for big setups and rigs and cameras”

      • Zygimantas says:

Also the li-ion batterries used in RC hobbies have a best capacity, amperage and best lifetime if comparing with AA or something like dslr camera battery.

The whole system could be made ultra portable if needed.

  • Teoh says:

A timer on the slider would be awesome for some timelapse work!!! :)

  • Pedro says:

Who doesn’t want a slider, a cool new model that should be pretty cool.
A lot of us can’t afford gear, so one of us will be lucky. I hope someone who deserves and can’t easily just buy something like this wins it. Good luck.

  • Terea says:

    My husband would love this!

  • Garret Stone says:

Serious need of a slider! :) I’m rapidly growing as a freelance videographer along with learning new media production. This is exactly what I need in my repertoire. Great giveaway! THANKS!

  • Paolo says:

What I would like to see in a motorised slider is the portability factor, light weight, easy to set up, manageable power source and durability these things get thrown around a bit and if they’re not durable you end up buying one every 2 years or so.

    Thanks

  • Angelo says:

In a motorized slider, I would be looking for smoothness, easy setup and teardown, and portability. Also, I would like to be able to create timelapses with movement using a motorized slider.

  • Derek Martino says:

As an aspiring filmmaker who primarily business builds all his own equipment, it would be nice to have a piece of equipment that is professional and helps me get those cinematic shots that even with the best DIY build I can truly pull off. Thanks

  • Hy Phan says:

I need 3 things for a motorized slider. It should be consistent in motion, easy to set up and light weight for travelling

  • Zane says:

What I really want in a motorized slider is speed ramping, invalometer with exposure ramping capability so that it can control the camera directly, and custom settings functions via scripts/programming with the phone for more advanced programming with full control over every settings (like how much exposure to ramp etc.) to get the desired timelapse!

  • Looking for quality motorized slider and this would fit me.

  • Trifilmer says:

The great thing is that a motorized slider will enable me or an individual to pull off some AMAZING SHOTS that might not ordinarily go as well. Filming in Africa, the motorized slider will let me get smooth sliding shots, and still let me keep an eye out for big, nasty lions, Rhinos, etc that I would be filming.

With this motorized slider…you could be saving my life!

  • B.Vissvanathram says:

I really want this motorized slider because, i love videography so much and i know i can do a lot of things with this. I dont get so much of support from anyone because they think i cant do anything good in videography. If i get this slider i can show to the world what i am capable of :) :) :) :) :)

  • Nate says:

Sliders are extremely important in video productions to give certain cinematic quality that can only be produced by a dolly. A motorized dolly is also amazing for cool dolly time-lapse shots that can capture viewers attention.

  • Sam Turner says:

This slide would greatly improve my panning shots, I currently have a pico dolly with 15mm rails but everything is done manually so there isn’t that cinematic consistency that there is with a motorized slider.

    Thanks for the opportunity OlivaTech!!!

  • Hung Phan says:

I would like a motorized slider to be travel friendly and silent. Sometimes expense has to take a backseat to form and function.

  • Wei De says:

I would like to see motorize tripod head panning. To create a time-lapse tracking shot!

  • Chris Samaro says:

I’ve been buying gear here and there and always learning from my mistakes. I’ve been looking for a slider for a while but it’s never been in the budget. I’m looking for a good, solid slider that I can use for establishing shots. All in all I want a controlled, smooth and reliable piece of professional equipment.

    Thanks!

    Chris

  • Dichiee says:

I would like a slider with hydraulic legs that’s also programmable like the slide function. Now that will be a killer timelapse rig :)

  • Ponch Valinzuela says:

I just want to make my timelapses more dynamic with movement from a slider.

  • Too much coffee to handhold anything…. slider would be sweet for adding smooth movement on each and every shoot….

because there is no other way I can have it. I want to increase my work value but don´t have the money. This could be an amazing way to do it. Thanks for the oportunity.

  • JR Dziengel says:

I want everything a slider brings to a production — like value. But most of all RELIABILITY! Thanks :)

  • Bob Ballou says:

It would be great to have a slider with speed control and pan head.

  • Brian says:

Quick setup, smooth stops, and a capacity for a moderate amount of weight.

  • nycnah says:

I tried a manual slider and it wasnt great. hook me up! i never win stuff. :)

  • Shane says:

I can seeing a slider just upping my production values.
A slider has been on my “Must Get” list since day one.

  • Tony Andrea says:

Important traits I look for in a slider: consistent smooth travel, portability and easy to pack and travel with, solid construction, intuitive in its operation and assembly, ability to be easily integrated with its own quiet operating motor, complete with motion controller, timelapse capability and sturdy operation in the field in various climates and locations. Sliders provide that dimensional movement that opens a world of possibilities in your shooting! Thanks to OliviaTech and your mentorship!

  • Steven says:

A slider should be Smooth! From start to stop, no if, ands, or butts! I single motor for time lapse AND fast action would be awesome! Replaceable gears would be ok. IF these sliders could start and stop on a dime and get from one end to the other in 2 or 1 seconds…. Imagin that in slow motion!!! If that could also have some key frames for ramping that would be Killer! Also a 3 axis keyframe programmable slider rig would be King of All!! -Steven

  • What would be awesome in a slider? Of course a USB PLUG, so I would also be able to control it from my computer.
What would be MORE awesome in a slider? Of course a WI-FI capability, so I wouldn’t need to plug a USB cable and control it from my phone

  • Peter Lan says:

What is very important for me in a slider is to control the friction or drag of the sled while retaining an ultra smooth motion.

Maybe magnetic drag control will be the final frontier for sliders, who knows.

Too many sliders out there seem to be built for a specific range of weights of camera to carry. This usually means the smaller ones becomes choppy when mounting a heavier rig on, while heavier duty ones becomes super loose. Hope this slider solves those problems!

Maybe magnetic drag control will be the final frontier for sliders, who knows.

    • Peter Lan says:

oops said the last line twice =P Its important though! Manufactures! Put on your thinking Caps! lets make it happen!

And no I do not mean maglev.

  • Andy Campos says:

I have been wanting to do hypertimelapse, or motion time lapse for awhile now but simply cannot afford even some of the lower end motion controller sliders. Plus just getting nice smooth pan shots automated would be awesome!!!
    Thanks,
    Andy Campos

  • Jonathan J. says:

I want a handle on my slider

  • Christian Campos says:

Honestly DIY sliders are easy and all, but at the end of the day you’re still limited to what you can do. Sadly they don’t compare to the real deal though. I think that people would like the feature of having an app for your phone or tablet that could allow you to program how fast the slider moves and also to stop the sliding feature at whatever point you want would be cool. In the app you could possibly do the things one can do as in the GoPro App like have a module that allows you to see what your camera sees. Instead of having an external monitor for some people it might be more convieniant.

  • daniel martin says:

Oh I could use one of those!

  • Keene Hudson says:

I want a slider that has smooth and adjustable movement, as well as one that is easily transportable.

  • Tucker says:

    Awesome Blog
You inspire me to make better videos every time I watch one of yours
    Thank you!

  • Arthur Nguyen says:

I want a motorized slider because it will simplify shooting multiple angles while also having a smoother motion than a manual slider. I’d also be able to do awesome moving timelapses for “behind the scenes” recording of videos. There are so many uses for a motorized slider it’s just plain silly!

  • Taylor says:

I want a slider in general. Had one in the past at my last job and it made productions have just that much more value to them. Now for my new work I want a smooth sliding and motorized slider that is easy to operate and low maintence.

  • Jordan S says:

I literally have the worst Slider right now, I bought a cheap one off amazon which was a mistake because it does me not justice. You have no idea how much I want this Slider and how it would change my life. It would make my day if I won this, I could tell you every little detail of the slider I would like as in it not being a friction based slider, the amount of drag etc.. that would take to long. I am in a transiting period with doing Pro work and I need this, but whatever happens thanks for the contest and I truly appreciate all the work you put in and what you do I have learned a lot from your vimeo page that I follow you on. Peace

  • Dale Berman says:

I recently hand made a slider with rollerblade wheels and I even hand made a jib from your jib plans you provided in this blog. It sure would be nice to have a professionally made slider that is motorized. I would like to see a motorize slider that can do a pan and one that can also do time-lapse. It would be great is the slider worked both in the horizontal setup and a vertical setup plus a built in level would be nice too. With a motor I would be able to get very smooth slides and it would advance my creativity.

  • Danny Blackstock says:

I have always wanted to make moving time-lapses and get slider shots to improve the filmic look of my videos, and this slider would allow me to do that!

  • Jesus Salas says:

I would like a slider that could export the data information of the movements I do in order to use it in different programs like 3d.

  • Tom Keliher says:

I would like a motorized slider to be waterproof so that a GoPro could be used on it in very wet environments.

  • cdconk says:

I wish I didn’t have to Tweet to win this slider. I have too many other social media vices that take up my time when I could be out shooting instead. So I guess I won’t win. But seriously, a step motor for consistent motion at a precise speed would be nice in a slider. Good luck to all Tweeting out there and thanks OliviaTech for a great site, blog, with tons of helpful incite. Cheers.

  • Duy Nguyen says:

What I would like to see in a motorized slider is a turn-knob controller that allows you to control the direction and speed of the slider based on how far left or right you’re turning. With that in mind, the motor must also be able to slow down the camera smoothly as it approaches the end for a smooth stop.

I would also like to see the slider’s motorized control synchronized with the camera’s intervalometer for that silky smooth slow motion time lapse dolly shot.

The ability to turn the camera on its mount for panning, tilting and tracking in real time and time lapse would be a dream come true, especially when shooting sports, action shots and tracking a static object in time lapse.

Good battery life is a must but that would mean a trade off somewhere, like the pan-tilt-track mechanism. And if the battery runs out, operating the slider manually would be nice.

Finally portability is key. Being able to transport the slider anywhere as well as easy setup and breakdown is important. If the slider can collapse to a smaller profile to fit in a backpack or in its own carrying case, it would be phenomenal.

  • David Soo says:

I want it to be fluid with a soft stop at each end, no matter what speed its set at. this guarantees no shake or jitter when filming.

  • Ariel says:

What I want in a motorized slider is consistent smooth movement at any angle or incline you set the slider to. Also I’ve seen another slider where you can make it longer from the design. (Don’t know if you’ve seen that model) Also a quiet muffled motor to minimize vibration. Although I’ll get any slider because I can’t afford a great one and I’m not handy enough to make one on my own. :P Thanks for the opportunity to win one!

  • Drew Polanycia says:

Hey Olivia! I am new to your site, but I absolutely love your videos not just for the product reviews but the way you express it. I found the mic video with the guy from juicelink extremely helpful when it comes to recording audio. Thank you so much for your hard work. Please keep it up!

    Drew

  • Jared Tafua says:

I want a motorized slider that packs a punch and can take a beating. I have a 24″ slider that is great with a hand push, but I need a longer slider that is motorized, can handle the weather, is water proof, and works on various terrain like it was half monkey, half lion, half fish would definitely help me create some breathe taking time lapse videos for so many occasions.

  • Cristian Rusu says:

I want it to be light, compact and also extensible.
As far as motorization, I’d like beside slide to also pan and tilt by itself.

I just built a manual one, but it’s not comparable to a motorised as far as smoothness.

    Regards

  • A first shot or take slider would be nice. Its always frustrating to see slider footage with bump or slight speed adjustment. It would be nice to set up a slider and be able to get the shot.

  • jesus salas says:

a following system by motion detection would be nice.

  • Neal Manzano says:

I would like a slider that is durable yet provides constant motion. I also enjoy the flexibility to mount the slider in different configurations withou having to buy extra gear similar to how the Konova slider.

  • paolo says:

I would love if the motorized slider would have consistent yet variable speed, and an ability to have a smooth and adjustable start and stop.

Good luck to everyone but I hope i win hahaha!
ill have my 1st slider and can make more epic videos :P

  • keven williams says:

i would love one that i can dow both time lapse, and video, so basically a really quiet motor, for time lapse, the only other thing is being able to control how much it moves, say as little as ( or even less if possible ) 1mm, and for video, the only other thing i can think of is it being smooth at any speed, and thats is where it is hard ( but not for a konova, with is what i looks like it is in the video) ( yes i am the biggest tec geek!)

  • What I want in a Motorized Slider is…

Something durable, lightweight, easy to carry and set up on the fly!

  • Jason says:

The future is iOS and mobile platforms!

  • Alhareth Ajjaj says:

    thanks Olivia

  • Gavin J Vincent says:

    Hellooo Olivia,

A motorized slider that is super smooth, easy to operate, lightweight yet durable and can also handle all weather conditions is what would make a fantastic slider.

    Many thanks :)

  • Patrick L says:

I look to do both photo time lapses and smooth pans in video using a slider. Hope I get the chance to win this slider

  • Francesc Alaman says:

    I need it!!
I’ve been wanting one for who nows how long, because my lapses are too static…

  • I want a roller to control the speed of the Motorized Slider , I need an open and close Motorized Slider which I can take it every where, a remote to control the speed and the time of the slider which will be awesome for self shoot and time lapse . I really want this Motorized Slider because I am not a professional film-maker but I I want to be a film-maker, unfortunately in my country there is no school for film making but I always watch tutorial in YouTube for that I want it to build a new culture of film making in Bahrain ;)

I would love to share my new home London England in amazing motion time lapse Videos ,and change the way people see things everyday.

  • Scuba says:

I shoot videos literally everyday, and I have never used a slider. I know buying one would break the bank for me, so it would be nice to have one for free, especially a motorized one. Also, I will do your laundry for two weeks Olivia, just to make it totally worth it for you :)

  • Russell M. Johnson says:

I would like a slider with the ability to be hung from a ceiling or crane which would give me great shots for the tv commercials or music videos I produce.

  • Chun says:

The slider has to be easy to operate, smooth and quiet!

  • Arvind Mattadeen says:

Sliders is the most essential tools for me, because of it gives a more cinematic style to my productions. It helped me a lot getting quite some huge contracts but still I dont have a proper slider for a professional use, mine tends to get a bit jerky if used in area with lots of dust and it’s cheap aluminum. I really like all your reviews and you are doing great job sharing all this with us. Your review on the Konova slider really made me think of seriously investing in one of these, because of it’s durability, stable and above all the constant smooth movement which creates a more professional. At the end of the day we all want to be pro, so when I saw this post, I said “why not” give it a try :) thanks a lot Olivia and the team behind these productions. cheers !

  • I want a slider with a motar that’s fast enough and smooth enough to be used on video; without breaking the bank.

  • Damian says:

I need Consistency in my shots. would be great to leave it there for time lapse videos as well.

  • Nils Förster says:

I would like to have a slider which hass a smooth motion and is capable of making timelapse videos

  • Joel Young says:

I want a slider that feels like it was built by the gods. I want it to be so heavy, dangerous and indestructible you need a heavy machinery license to operate it. It should be tempered from the steel of Panzer tanks and forged in the fires of Mount Doom. And when you inevitably die from a lapse of respect while using it, it should trap your soul within its motor for a thousand thousand years, or until warranty expires.

  • Marek Flekal says:

Must have the first slider in the world made out of little cubes. :D

  • Steve Whitehead says:

I want a dependable motorised slider with a silky glide and constant speed. The unit has to be tough but also lightweight,

i want in a Motorized Slider to be one and a half meters tall !!!

  • Kevin says:

    yes please.

  • kondzio29 says:

Slider is a smooth way to make videos cool and professional.

What I want from a motorized slider:
    - smooth
    - portable
    - easy to clean
    - easy and quick set up
    - powerful enough to pull the camera vertically
    - variable speeds

  • Rafaël Alewaters says:

What I’d like to see in a good motorized slider is consistent motion, and a silent motor. It would be great to have a slider which is lightweight, has alot of mounting options, and can carry some decent weight (for bigger cameras). A time laps option would be great too.

  • James Johnson says:

I am looking for steady and consistent movement in a slider.

  • eladbari says:

Besides making Epic slider shots by day, id use my slider to its fullest.
By night, I would make a lovely romantic dinner to my sweetheart and use my slider to pass on the salt to her. :]

*wine will be passable too. just needs a 1\4″ inch adapter

  • Hideki says:

I want it to run smoothly even though it goes back and forth in a fast motion.
I also like it to move fast smoothly.

  • Joel Camilo says:

    Hi,
What I looking in a gear is portability and functionality for one man setup, I will like to see a multi-slider, a slider that can transform from a 23inch slider up to 59inch just by adding additional length that can be purchase as accessories.
Suction cups legs to secure the slider in flat superficies and to place the sliders in different place like a car window, car hood, etc.
The bearing steel sliders temp to be noisy and the friction sliders have a weight limit most for DSLR cameras, I would love to have a sliders that can be on my tripod all the time in a one camera event that means that needs to be quiet and strong so I can have my camera with light and mic, maybe with a rubber rolling bearings or magnetic rolling to minimize the noise.
I would also like to use a motorize slider in a wedding, the motor needs to be more quiet, low profile and smaller battery ( AA battery power will be nice event better a motor that has a Sony NP battery adapter ) also motorize slider that I can just place in a church during a wedding with a camera recording and the motor will be moving left to right automatically ( I am not sure if this is possible with the current motors) and something nice on the motor or controller is a lcd screen with more friendly use I think is like and update to the different controllers out there and a smart controller that enable the possibility to use it wireless via wifi or Bluetooth with app or software in a smart phone, pad or computer, it will be great if the sliders can be integrated into a jib for high slides while moving the jib
A “T or V” support with fast release accessory for large sliders to be use with one tripod and large cameras, this will be a + for fast setup.
Even do I still don’t own a slider I been watching lot of reviews of different sliders ( have to thank you OlviaTech for your work for all the information that you share with us also will like to thank chessycam.com) .

  • Mario Williams says:

I would use the slider to practice different shots for film productions

  • Nate Webster says:

I would want a relatively light weight slider that is able to stand by itself and also be placed on a tripod.

I would like to have a STABLE vertical option.

I would like the motor to be relatively quiet but easily controlled.

And a pan/tilt feature wouldn’t be so bad!!

    Thanks!!

  • Khaliq Hashim says:

i want it with an LCD viewfinder, i’ve been saving up, but it’s taking too much time &project ideas are flowing away, i need this! :D

Differing speeds, or failing that, to be in my hands, cheers.

  • Jamaal Teagle says:

I want to start doing more timelapse. Great giveaway and check your blog everyday.

  • Would be great if they make a slider which is variable in length. Easier for transport and in tight or larger spaces.

This would also make it possible to use the slider on one tripod if there is only one available.

  • Richard Bonifacio says:

I would love to have a motorized slider. Thank you Olivia!

I film interviews for my job and the number one reason for the slider would be to provide simple creativity. Because its not so big, it being accessible is important and the build quality can make it last for a long time.

  • Bill Almasides says:

    Hello Olivia,

The most important thing for me is that the slider must be very smooth on its operation, even in the lowest amount of speed, helping you easily get the shot(s) that you want. I want it to be very durable, as quite as possible and weather shield if possible.

Motorized 360° omni head would also be a superb feature and it would be very cool if you could make it “learn” movements, by automate them yourself maybe, and save them for future use! Imagine timelapse combining movements by the motorized slider and head.

Ability to operate with batteries and to easily extend the track if you want. Lightweight for portability and low power consumption.

Thank you for this offer Olivia!

A quality product with quality parts, adjustable speeds, and a price that is reasonable.

  • WOW! a motorized slider… I want a slider because i cant afford one- spcially a motorized one… and moreover no brand is available in my country for personal use… In a motorized slider I would really like a bowl or a ballhead so that i can tilt it and use it in any angle i want. also it should be sturdy so that i can use it on my tripod.
I have been following OliviaTech for a long time… and hope i can get it :)

    Thanks Olivia :D

  • Alexius says:

I want the motorized slider!! Thanks!!

  • Rick Owens says:

I would like to see a slider that can move a caged 5D MKIII with all the accessories and also include variable speeds. It would also be really cool if it could do all of that vertically as well as horizontally.

    Thank you for this opportunity.

  • Arnel says:

want me to look like a pro… and know what im doing. :)

  • Dave kim says:

    Pick me! I want it..yeah!

  • I love my city NYC, Ive also been wanting to do some timelapse. I want a slider that will help me capture some images of the city Ive been battling with since birth that maybe someone else has not seen. I also have a day job in Coney Island devastated by hurricane sandy, being there everyday I would love a slider that would help me capture that as well, so itd have to be able to handle all kinds of terrain.

  • I found out not so long ago about you and I must say that I pretty impressed by your post… As for the motorized slider, I want smoothness, control, portability, durability, reliability. I can use it from side to side, up and down and vice-versa, and the ultimate would be to be able to use it upside down. Time lapse capability is also a must.
From Montreal with love, keep the good work!!!

  • Rico says:

What I want in a motorized slider?

    Smooth Track
When taking video it’s important to me to have a low friction track for smooth shots. Even better though would be a track or base with adjustable friction for a more controlled movement. Also if the track can work upside down and sideways that would be great.

    Variety of tripod attachments
I expect to see both ¼ inch and 3/8 inch thread holes at both ends of the track and one in the middle. An nice feature would be to have two attachments but allow the user to move them around. Also small rubber feet or short legs for putting it on tables and not have to bring a tripod(s).

    Connectivity
An app would be so useful. It would make the interface so much more user friendly than the physical controls of sliders that are currently on the market. It would be particularly useful if there were an iPad app too with easy to see and use buttons. At the very least it should control the speed and direction. For time lapse applications it would be nice if the app calculated for you how fast or slow the base needed to move when you know how long the shot you want is. I would prefer Bluetooth connectivity over wifi because I dislike having the connect to discreet networks for different wireless applications.

    Affordability
Price is always an issue I would like to see one at or under US $500. This isn’t unreasonable as DIY ones work almost as well as real ones and cost FAR less.

    Power
In addition to a power adapter that you can plug into to a wall I would love to see some sort of battery pack, the smaller then better. And if it had a battery charge indicator that would be great too.

    Modular
I would like a package that is upgradable. You would buy a base model with simple slider no bells or whistles. But design it in a way that you can easily attach upgrades like:
    - Manual wheel for controlled movement
    - Motor and controls
    - Battery Pack
    - Motorized pan and tilt head
    - Vertical pistons so you can move it in every possible direction
    - Attachments for extra rails
    - Curved rails?

Most of all however I would like to see a slider that is easy to clean and maintain without having to take it all apart every time you use it outdoors.

  • John LaBella says:

I would love for the slider to offer some uniform interfaces for the camera and remote monitor .

The slider would handle the internal wiring harness with appropriate interface at one end . The interface “box” would offer a plug in for an external monitor, Plug in for camera control(s) which could dependent on the camera be as simple as a shutter release. This could be facilitated for differing cameras by offering a different camera end plug (think interchangeable laptop power supplies).

It could also offer a plug in for an external monitor complete with a power supply take off for that unit.
at that control point a plug in for the control would be available – perhaps with a wireless remote as an additional option…

THe slider itself would offer numerous power input options … whether battery for location shoots or ac for studio shoots.

I know and to have all this for under $200 (Just kidding about that).

  • Dana Billington says:

I have to be able to afford it, so it must be cost effective when compared to the competition.
    It has to be portable
It has to work well, do not want to fight it or have to learn special technique.
I has to look good be attractive like me.

  • Carlos Rosales Roca says:

I’m a resident in Japan and I have a project called “japan mystical” so a motorized slider would come to me well, greetings from japan.

  • Frank Apollonio says:

A slider is one piece of equipment I need badly!

  • Robert Raszipovits says:

I would like to have one because right now I do not own one yet and would like to be able to achieve a more dynamic shot for a better quality film. Sometimes just panning doesn’t allow you to acheive the type of emotion that you might want to invoke with a camera movement.

  • Frank Apollonio says:

I want a slider that is free !

  • Andrew Peth says:

I’d love to see a travel sized motorized slider (something like Edelkrone’s design). Through in bluetooth or wifi control via Android or iOS and I think you got a pretty perfect piece of gear.

    I WANT A MOTORIZED SLIDER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • marshall says:

What i want in a motorized slider is that it has a solid enough build that it will be reliable over time and last me at least 3-5 years. I’m tired of buying new equipment :-)

  • Matt Dillman says:

I want a motorized slider that is lightweight in comparison to some of the other heavier sliders. I want the slider to have a programmable voice (The Rock) that tells me I am looking swoll and that I’m the people’s champ every hour on the hour.

  • Patrick P says:

I want to share my stories with the world. The ability to reach out to the world is at our fingertips. What I want in a motorized slider is the ability to capture the stories I want to share with the world. I want to share my stories.

  • Royston Kane says:

I am starting a project on my daughter who has special needs. I made a homemade one, but no motor on it and it is not as smooth. This would be a great upgrade for catching some action when she is in her walker or standing.

i would love a good inexpensive slider (but free is better), reliable seems i cant even trust my two feet to move smooth to give me great side to side and front to back shots, i want a slider thats like my assistant (even tho i cant afford one) to know which way to go with out Hesitation. Moterized would be so wonderful since i work with no crew and by myself. i want a slider that can help, assist, and or support my imagination. A slider is all i need to complete my filmmaking Arsenal.. all i want to do is make movies and music videos and almost every shot calls for a slider…

    thank you

PS: thanks for that DIY Camera Crane Jib, built is last week… much needed

  • Jordan Hughes says:

I need one because I can’t afford a decent slider, especially a motorized one. I’m looking for a slider to be as versatile as I am. If there’s a situation that calls for a change, I want a slider than can adapt with me, whether its a dolly, truck, vertical, jib..you name it. Plus going motorized would allow an untold advantage to my workflow.

  • paul bongiovanni says:

The most important thing in a slider for me is versatility. Sure a nice smooth is what everyone is after but with a slider 90% of the time that is what you get. There has to be a bigger incentive. I want a slider that can mount vertical for nice upward video shots that look like I’m using a crane. I want a slider that has the option of mounting a motor for long time lapse picture and video to create surreal works of art. I want a slider that has the ability to mount accessories and have the option to make it my own. I want the ability to mount a ball tripod head and conventional head at the same time, no worries or fuss in deciding which head to use.

Thanks OliviaTech for the opportunity to win such a great product, regardless who wins im sure they will be very happy and enthused about their new toy!

  • I will like to have a tool to improve my regular shoot as well as my timelapses. I leave in a very beautifull place down in South Italy, and with this slider I will be able to do much more dinamic and stable panoramic shoots and I ll make me very happy.

  • I would like to see a motorized slider, that doesn’t have any drag and that is quiet enough for me to use at a wedding and not disturb the ceremony, lol also a sturdy build with good level feet

  • Justin Reynaert says:

I would like a slider with maybe adjustable speed.
would be amazing if i won this slider tho.
cant afford a slider at the moment :(

  • Jodi Lafferty says:

I am trying to help my brother get film equipment he needs.

  • James Grillo says:

In a motorized slider I want true love and happiness… also, smooth things. Don’t have a budget for a slider, let alone a motorized one. Consider this humble request.

  • Kai says:

I’ve always been looking for a great slider for my DSLR camera. I’ve purchased some mediocre sliders thinking I would save some money but I learned that it’s well worth it to invest in a better one. This would be nice if I could win it. Thanks! Great contest!

  • Riley Fearon says:

I need motorized slider that can have an adjustable length. This would be useful for a couple of reasons. One being that you can customize your shot to any length that you want. And two being that I can be easier to travel with if you can down size it to fit into a traveling case.

In addition, adjustable legs would be a major bonus. With an ability to adjust the legs you can prop, fit, and secure the slider to more surface areas.

  • I do a lot of VFX for my youtube channel, Megasteakman, so having a motorized slider means I could precisely repeat camera moves to get clean plates on dolly shots. For me, a motorized slider should have variable speed control, silent operation and robust design. Thanks! I love your camera reviews (also, thanks for the recommendation of the R-300 LED)!

  • Jon S says:

I need a compact/lightweight substitue for my dolly system. Driving around LA with 10 feet of dolly track in my car is not ideal especially since I have no place to store it in my apartment so it just lives in my car. I’m looking for something motorized with a quick set up time that would make me put my dolly in storage for good.

  • Benjamin A. Grotnes says:

Hi Olivia, what i want in a motorized slider is the ability to change between a lot of different speeds, i’d like it to come with not only one motor, but different motors for variable speeds, everything from really slow timelapse to fast video shots. It would have been great to have the an option for controlling it wirelessly and with wires. It doesn need to be too complex. Something simple, but smooth.

When i imagine a perfect motorized slider i see a slider that can be operated both by hand an with motors, that can be used in all different speeds. Have the possibility to maybe attach a pan/tilt head and be strong, so it can hold a little weight. It should maybe come with a controller with a speed knob and a joystick for pan and tilting.

But as i said, it doesnt have to bee so complex. I’m not really a professional filmmaker, i just do it for fun. I would have been really happy if i had a motorized slider that could be used for both timelapse and videos and that is really easy to operate.

I would really appreciate if you sent it to me, i have no slider, ive tried a lot of DIY ways of making sliders but just none of them turned out any good. So if i got a professional slider from you i can’t imagine how happy i’d be!

    - Benjamin from Norway

    • Benjamin A. Grotnes says:

I’d also want it to have a box that can be mounted on the side of one of the ends that contained a big battery with long battery life, and on the top of the box a speed knob.

I’d also love if it came with counterbalance weights so it can be operated vertically to film elevated shots so give it a kind of crane feeling without a large crane setup, just the slider and counterbalance.

  • rafick says:

what do i have to do if i want this free slider ? p.s. im from suriname :)
owyeah , i love your shows (on youtube )
    <3 your beautifull to :)

  • JC says:

I Want in . I desperately need one . I already been following you on twitter but I re tweeted as well and did all the other stuff

  • I’m not sure if these have already been done, but:

An app, easy iphone/smartphone integration, lots of features and a guide within this app: (smart timelapse settings depending on your shots per minute).
Timed movements and rotations, mappable in this app.

On the slider itself- automated ease in/ease out of a slider motion (like an After Effects function almost). Automated swivel function that can turn any QR plate or tripod head continuously around.

  • Andy Young says:

I need smooth consistent motion from a slider.

  • Austin H says:

First off I would love a slider, motorized or not. But as a single shooter a motorized slider would be a godsend!

  • Jarrod says:

I would love to have a slider with a single motor that can handle a wide range of speeds, as well as a heavy payload. iOS integration would be amazing as well!

  • In a mototrised slider I would like to see a solid, robust construction, lightweight, variable speeds, ramp speed function, Internal battery powered, wireless control and programming, interhtation with a motorized pan/tilt head for the ultimate motion control functions.

  • Annette says:

I would love to have a smartphone control plus interval control

  • Thien nguyen says:

I want a slider with phone control app and a paning head . A carrying bad for free would be awesome too

  • Enrique Meza says:

I would love a slider that has an ios app to control the speed of the slide and affordability is another plus.

  • Olli Riiho says:

Olivia you’re my favorite! Would also love to shoot some slider shots.

  • Michael Kusaba says:

I want smooth consistant motion in a motorized slider.

  • Jacob Barkey says:

I started shooting three years ago – right out of high school. I’ve always wanted a slider, but I’ve never been able to scrape together enough money for one as I’m always shooting action sports which don’t bring in a whole lot…

  • Apostolos Vasileiadis says:

I just wanted a slider, but motorised makes it even better :-)

  • Having a motorized slider will help me in so many ways! I’ve been doing videography for about 2 years now and have a slider will step up my game. What are the chances of you guys even reading this comment anyways lol. Have a nice day guys and keep up the great work!

  • Emils says:

Fast, responsive, very smooth and powerful, with android wifi control an built in timelapse controller.

  • Ben Hoffman says:

I am an aspiring film maker. I would love to get cinematic slider shots but I cannot afford a slider. Help the film makers of the future realize there dreams today.

  • Osvaldo says:

I would like to have a motorized slider with a timer

  • Here’s my list of wants for a slider: of course, smooth operation during a wide range of temperatures and humidity, variable speed, balanced to the center mount when nothing is attached and the sliding mount is centered (of course…LOL), very light but strong i.e. carbon fiber ends, can be extended to double its original length (at least), a good variety of mounting options, and let’s see, what else?…oh yeah, a very handy and padded case with pockets for extras. Enough for you? I could probably think of other things. Thanks for this opportunity! LOL.. Hi from the East Coast.. :)

  • Ning Wong says:

I want a portable and SMOOOOOOOTH slider!

  • Memo Ortega says:

I’m really into cinematography, I study comunication and I can’t really afford to buy a slider of that price, but it would be great If I could add it to my equipment! Tks Olivia!

  • This nifty gadget would create even more video adventures with the GoPro camera. These cameras aren’t just for a Saturday night rough and tumble romp. They can also be smooth as Sunday relaxation shots too.

  • Jeremy Widen says:

Why I want a motorized slider:
    1) Sliding timelapses.
    2) Sliding timelapses.
    3) Smooth slides during production.
    4) SLIDING TIMELAPSES!

Having the ability to smoothly capture movement during my timelapses will really help elevate my production value. As a student, having this added value for low cost (or free) is the absolute best thing possible.

  • What I want in a motorized slider is smooth consistant images. That can be repeated over and over again for each take. I have always been facinated with motion timelapse, what a brilliant idea. I would do that kind of work if I only had a motorized slider with a timelapse feature. If only!

  • Narayan says:

Smoothness, and variable speed including faster speeds which most motorized sliders lack.

  • Randall Taylor says:

I’d love this slider as I am a filmmaker, but I also work with kids every now and then teaching the basics of production. I think this would be a wonderful tool that could give them something more to work with. I’ve made my own slider, but its not quite right, so this would be perfect!

  • Tomaž says:

    I could really use this.

  • Scott Hernandez says:

The high school students in my film and video production class would love this slider. Since we are a non-profit organization we don’t have access to this kind of gear. This would be truly amazing tool for them.

  • Ben Dafili says:

    Hello

What i want in a motorized slider is ease of use meaning how quick it should be to assemble and attach a camera on it.

It should also have a cool feature on it like a wire that plugs into the camera so you can see what your filming via iPhone or iPad and be able to control the whole thing wirelessly.

    thanks woop :)

  • I want a motorized slider that is silky smooth, light but durable, has adjustable speeds, and has alternative options for rigging a more complex setup.

There’s a few documentary projects that I want a rig for specifically including filming a segment for my brother’s skate company.

I’m just a broke 24 year old trying to make great looking images.
    PICK ME!!!

  • My needs in a slider are simple… Smooth operation, path and speed repeatability, easy operation with my tripod, light, and easy to transport, and fast to set up and tear down! Simple… :-)

  • Greg Kubik says:

What I want in a motorized slider is something I can trust to have smooth action and consistent movement to help with the creation of timelapse and motion that helps enhance the project I am working on.

  • Oliver Brighton says:

I look for smooth motion and ease of use as often it is just me.

  • J says:

    1. Smooth dolly shots
    2. Timelapse video

  • Andrew Henderson says:

What wouldn’t I use this for is the question I currently can’t afford a slider being a college student and a father. I think among the things I would do with it would be time lapse photography and even more so use it in my short films to really give them the production value boost they need. This would be a life changer for someone like me.

  • Kyle says:

What I want in a motorized slider:
    1. Smooth motion on the rails
    2. Support for ball head
    3. Variable automatic speed ramping options
    4. Fully manual speed control
    5. Intervalometer time lapse control

  • Mike Hannigan says:

What I’d like to see in a slider:

    1) Durability
    2) Affordability
    3) Variable speed/interval for both video and time-lapse (Possible iPad/iPhone connection for simplified programming)
    4) High capacity battery/long life
    5) Variable length rail system
    6) Inverted and vertical lift ability

  • I have been challenged getting smooth shots because I no longer can get around very easily i.e. on knees, squatting, sitting on ground etc. and this motorized slider will give me back the ability to get those fantastic no shake shots again and at all the variety of angles that I would prefer to include in my videos. Thank you for offering this opportunity.

  • Carson Waugh says:

Ideally a slider that has both it’s own feet as well as a mount for a tripod and monopod. Most importantly having something that I can mount a tripod head to that is easy to use with one hand.

  • Liam says:

I want a motorized slider that has variable speed control. If it can speedramp, that’d be super useful for those sweet sliding shots, and sliding timelapse shots.

    I want it.

  • As mentioned, ball bearings, easy cleaning, battery or plug in, no loose wires, smooth smooth smooth motion and speed control.

  • Tim says:

I’d use the slider make B movies. Nominate the movies for web awards. Then I’d ultimately Win the web awards by voting for myself.

A motorized slider (out of my price range) would allow me to take consistent shots with motion. For me that would make a huge difference in my film making. I also tied to build a DIY one and it sucked.

  • Zach says:

I would like the motorised slider to be able to add a professional film look to my films and be able to do this without lag. Also to do some cool astronomy timelapse on the side

  • Ron B. says:

I’d love a motorized slider. It’ll really help me with future projects!

  • Fernando Lugo says:

I would like a motorized slider that is “realistically” affordable (which this product seems to be). So many companies are offering sliders at “affordable” prices that are more than most of my gear combined. Also, I would like a motorized slider that is simple to operate (simple enough a 5 yr old can operate it). Lastly, I would enjoy a slider that could store in a small form so I can transport all my gear in my car without making multiple trips.

  • Duane says:

I want what I have yet to get in other sliders:

Smooth motion with a camera, lens and monitor mounted.

Would be a good slider to start practicing with :)

  • I am freelance creative artist and my dream motorized slider would help me set up “that perfect shot.” I need options: something portable, something that can be attached to a tripod, something with buttery smooth adjustable speed, it would be great if it had a tilt function/adjustment arm, something I can control with a remote. I want something I will be excited and proud to bring to any shoot. Thank you for this opportunity, OliviaTech.

  • Mark Hewitt says:

This would be awesome to have…. Can’t even begging to tell you how I could use it :)

  • iP337 says:

When shopping for a motorized slider I only need 3 things. Length (at least 3ft), weight (lighter the better) and motor durability (it needs to be smooth but also something that will last or can be easily and cheaply replaced). Hope this helps and I hope I win! :D

Living in New York City the video production competition is extremely fierce. This generous giveaway from OliviaTech would be JUST the shot in the arm that my setup desperately needs. Thank you for the opportunity!

  • Pawan Rai says:

I am a student filmmaker who has been watching and learning great things from amazing shows, like OliviaTech (really appreciate what you guys do!). I’ve always wanted a slider, but since my budget was so tight that i could only afford to make one…and that to out of PVC, which quite a few times turned out to be a dismal failure.
A motorized slider would be something i had never thought i could own in near future, with its completely automated features i would be able to get shots that are impossible to get with manual controlling. it would make time-lapse video and photography look cinematic and add tremendous amounts of production value. Would truly be able to get shots that certainly would be proud yet grateful for!
Last but not least I’d like for the slider to have sturdy build quality that I could rely upon.
    Thanks OliviaTech, once again!

    • Pawan Rai says:

Things that I forgot to mention…. :P ( MY Dream Slider of the Future)

That would be epic, thanks Olivia. ;)

  • sidney Barnes III says:

What I want in a video slider is the opportunity to add this to my very small amount of equipment to be able to begin my independent film making journey. The video slider will allow me to capitalize on many of the different shots I am going to need to begin making movies and commercials. I put alot of time and studies in becoming a filmmaker and having the slider will allow me to move closer to producing good content.

  • What I want in a motorized slider is long lasting durability and portability! Plus a motorized pan tilt head that is time the same as the slider too! Maybe that’s what this one has?

  • Alexader Q says:

I would like a motorized slider that can be mounted on one tripod or one two, that has a motor strong enough to lift a lightweight dslr vertically along the track or can be used upside down, that has a remote for controlling the slider (it could be wired or wireless, I’m not that picky), has variable speed control that can easily be set to the same speed so that a shot can be achieved more than once, and possibly automatic panning of the camera mount.

  • EddieJr says:

I want it to take awesome video including ones of my sleeping toddlers! :)

  • I want to have a slider that is portable and light weight enough to pack it in to remote locations if needed. I also would need a motor that has the ability to go at a decent speed for filming at normal speeds or slower for longer time lapse photography. I also need a slider that has a powerful enough motor for vertical movement of the carriage. I also need a slider that is butter smooth. None of this friction crap, So probably bearing based. and I need a slider that has adjustable feed for different terrain, as well as mounting options for 3/8′ mounts. Thanks! Hope this helps.

  • Victor Carrano says:

Versatility, programmability and ease of use.

  • Eric says:

    Hi Olivia,

I need a good slider so I can make sure that when I film the most important day for a couple, their wedding, that I can make it the best video possible. I want it so they can come back 20 years later and watch it with their kids and be proud of the moment my team and I captured.

And then I’ll use it to film some awesome cityscape timelapses here in Atlanta and share them for free as a thanks.

I am an inspired high school film maker that loves to produce creative content to the public population. This slider will be more than a slider to me. Seeing how I am going on a 240 hour community service trip to Costa Rica to teach young children how to speak English really makes me want to capture those moments in the best way possible; this could make it happen.

  • Travis (TLPmedia) says:

It’s hard to afford new gear for many of us, but if I won this slider it would absolutely add an additional visual element to my work. Additionally, as a media instructor, I share all of my tools with my classes, so these new filmmakers will benefit from hands-on experience with the slider.

I’d like a slider so that I can use it for video as well as time lapse photography and be easily switched between uses . Of course smooth motion is essential as well as the ability to manually control it by hand via crank or remote for dolly shots. Light weight is also very important for carrying it around.

As an independent filmmaker, I’m always trying to improve the look of my work — so I can concentrate on telling the best story I can. DSLR videography has dramatically improved this capability, allowing for extraordinarily professional work at the independent level. I’ve worked with dollies before, but they just don’t provide the control I need to create truly compelling shots.mA motorized slider accomplishes that and opens up a whole new rash of creative possibilities.

  • Stan Garcia says:

A motorized slider that wont get interrupted by tilts and pans done on the tripod head while the slider is working. That would be super nice :D

  • Stan Garcia says:

A motorized slider that wont get interrupted by tilts and pans done on the tripod head while the slider is working. That would be super nice. :D And maybe the motor that can provide resistance electronically or just physically to provide motion stability similar to Nitsan’s modification on the konova slider. That way you wont need to lug around a 5+ pound slider just because of the weight.

  • Steliana says:

I want a smooth motorized slider. im a wedding videographer.

  • Galen says:

Not having a slider, it’s hard for me to know everything I would use it for, but my imagination has been running wild, creating more dynamic shots that involve smooth, fluid movement while tracking and panning along the ground, and from a little more height… I have some ideas, but perhaps like a certain slider, they shouldn’t be fully revealed before their time (okay, so I’m grasping at straws as to specifics, but I know I would find many, many creative uses, and would some day make you really proud of me).

  • Henry says:

I’m in for the slider giveaway!

  • Nick Timblin says:

Would love a motorized slider for big panning timelapse shots for my wedding films! I’m not currently able to make them without one.

For me, it’d be about portability. Possibly battery operated, wifi controlled could be cool. Glass smooth, variable speed, affordable and durable :D

  • Dave says:

I want more length, as with a motorised slider, there’s no point it being motorised if the parralax effect won’t be noticable (without adding much foreground)

The motorised slider also needs to have a mount preferably in the center for one tripod, although contrary to my previous sentence of wanting a long slider, it’d warp on the edges.

Hopefully it’d have the ability to do vertical slides as well, with a ball head or a merlin head (telescope mod for panning and tilting)

I would like it light weight, but sturdiness is more important for timelapse projects rather than it moving around.

Preferably, something with a good controller as well similar to that of dynamic perception’s dolly.

(I would then also need a BIGGER BAG lol)

  • I would like to have this slider to improve my timelapse movie and create more interesting and dynamic perspective !

  • William Dansby says:

I’m a recent grad looking to expand my freelance business. I’ve been making branding videos and I would love to used a mechanized slider to help the videos look more professional!

  • David Do says:

Motorized slider! I’d love to win it!

  • Luke says:

This slider would be great for myself as being a student at high school I simply cannot afford a slider at this cost. I feel it would bring a real professional feel to my videos and really help to give a kick start to my future. I find it amazing as to the possibility’s surrounding a device like this such as slow dolly moves and the amazing moving timelapse’s giving that slight change of perspective.

  • I want a smooth, responsive slider, with easy controls and have time lapse capabilities. Obviously the lighter the better but that is not a deal breaker by any means.

  • Axel says:

This is very cool! Olivia, I really would want one, its very hard to get one of this sliders in Argentina!

Thanks in advance for the contest!

  • Joel says:

Durability and consistency. Once you learn the abilities and limitations of a slider, or any gear for that matter, you work with and around them.

I’m looking for a slider I can count on to roll smooth time and time again, anything else is a bonus.

  • Tom Altman says:

I want an affordable slide that covers at least 3 feet and is motorised so I can capture motion timelapsed HDR footage. I always check into to Oliviatech.com to find the latest and best deals in the video and photo industries. I also like watching her video reviews. And not just because she is easy on the eyes. She really knows the industry and products.
    Thanks

  • David M says:

would make my filming so much easier, for butter smooth slides

  • Kevin Nelson says:

Ease of use, portability, good construction and extreme functionality, i.e. controllable from a smart device.

I’m somewhat old school video, as well as many of my peers. We’ve all recently been investing in this kind of light weight, flexible gear. I’d love to be able to show all 26 or my colleagues what an amazing slider this is.

Think of awarding me the prize as a kind of loss leader; I get the slider, and you get 26 customers – win win!

  • A slider that can make my ideas come to life in a much better way?
I WANT IT! ICH WILL ES! EU QUERO ISTO!

Give me the slider and you’ll have free word-of-mouth propaganda from a creative director for a lifetime!

  • A. David Shaw says:

What i am mainly looking for in a motorized slider is a quiet motor, consistent and variable speed and durability. It should not weigh as much as a pick-up truck but should be able to be run over by one. Other than that I should be able to mount my camera to it and easily be ready to use it.

    • A. David Shaw says:

BTW I have a DIY slider and they are okay for shooting but not if you record sound, and that is my main focus is shooting for production purposes. I don’t want to have to resort to ADR for my sound.

  • For me, the slider shouldn’t be to heavy. It should be easy to maintain and very portable.

I’ve recently got my Nikon D600 and a motorized slider would now be a great addition for making some great timelapse videos! :) )

  • Timo Tali says:

I like smooth steppless action on a slider

  • Brad Fogle says:

A free, motorized unreleased slider, heck yes I want one!

When looking for a slider I first care about ruggedness, it must be able to survive the field and conditions from fridged snow to middle east desert dust. Second is transportability, if it can’t fit in my long pelican case, it doesn’t go in my kit. Third is configurability, I’d prefer a slider that can be;table top mounted with legs, middle tripod mounted, end mounted for extreme angle or verticle.

  • Ruslan Randzhabar says:

I want it to be compact, I want it to be quick to set up, I want it to be smooth and finally I want it to be mine. :D

  • Michael says:

I’m looking for something that’s super smooth and motorized is def on my list. Looks like this slider could be a great fit! I just graduated and I’m trying to start out on my own.

  • Hi,
Need a slider for time lapse videos.
Also, thank you for your reviews, very helpful when choosing a new gear.
    Greetings from Prague, Czech Republic.

  • I would love to have a slider that is smooth and easy to travel with. Maybe collapsible and has a remote motor.

  • Giacomo says:

    I need:
an engine smaller and lighter as possible
the maximum possibility of controls also whit an app on my smartphone.

  • Marko says:

I need a motorized slider to get ultra cool time lapse motion. It would be also cool to control everything with an iPhone.

  • What I want in a motorized slider is the advantage of adding professional looking shots as I do this on a budget and have no extra gear at my disposal.

  • Bruno says:

I would have to say some sort of plate on the feet of the the dolly slider to give the option of anchoring it or securing if to a surface. On windy days it is easy to mess up a your footage with shaking. Another idea would be mounting c brackets or clamps to secure to a rail or other things. If the hole were just there on the feet it would at least give the opportunity to invent some rig in order to do these other cool things. A simple hole!

  • A motorized slider with programmable speed-ramping would be awesome! also, being able to put it in any orientation would help too, from lateral shots to vertical shots.

  • TDerez says:

What i want in a slider is durability, steadiness and a variable speed control.

  • I would like a sub $300 iOS controlled slider.

  • Robert says:

I would say a mounting plate or a hole on each end so you can secure it between two tripods or stands. Maybe the rails can be extendable or the ability to add more rails for extended dolly shots.

  • Donn says:

What I would like in a motorized slider is simplicity paired with functionality. Make it basic but expand on the basics with time controls, speed controls, outrigger feet with different inclinations for that just right angle… so many options are overlooked in the very best of sliders, this would take the cake if it were designed and built by photographers.

  • Robert Toacse says:

    My dream slider:
    - should be portable
    - can be used for video and time-lapse as well
    - could be used both horizontally and vertically
    -smooth

  • Peter Hoang says:

Cool time lapse videos, also a slider adds a lot to a video. Also, smoothness and durability is a plus!

  • eddy says:

    Hey Olivia,

I would like to have a slider so i can make my holiday movies complete. Next april i am going to visite vietnam and i would make some really cool shots with the new slider!! Some timelapse of the ankor wat in the morning, the tunnels, the killing fields, etc.

  • Daniel García says:

I would be interested in a motorized slider that not only works for timelapse but also for basic motion control shots.

  • Tom says:

I’m looking for smooth operation, with tons of motion, pan and tilt control.

  • scott says:

Looking for an easy to adjust and maintain slider.
For a motorized slider: an easy to program intervalometer and speed control. Optional or included pan tilt head that operates off of the same controller. A controller that is battery powered and has a remote for manual speed control. It would be cool to be app driven as well but far from a necessity.

  • Ken Hom says:

What I want from this slider is the cool smooth pans it’ll produce for my videos, be it an inexpensive point and shoot camera or an expensive DSLR’s. Not to mention that I always wanted one :)
    Thanks Olivia Tech

  • Mikael Jonsson says:

I would actually love a Motorized slider with a motorized pan/tilt.. that would absolutely be the best! but what i want is a reliable and sturdy slider which i could take ut on uneven surfaces like the woods and make sweet sweet timelapses.

  • Gaday Mate!
I dont expect to win but i do love your site and This would help out a lot to finish my bmx dvd! Thanks again

  • Adam C says:

Just want a smooth motorized slider with a variable speed adjust from slow to faster. IOS/Android control would be a huge plus for time-lapse.

  • Al Dolega says:

In a motorized slider, I want something that’s affordable (but with a high value), easy to use, easy to set up, durable, and not too bulky- and of course gives me smooth, perfectly controlled, repeatable moves. Will this mystery slider do all that?

  • Jim says:

Inexpensive and highly collapsible and portable

  • KenFTW says:

my birthday is coming up and id like to up my production valuse! a nice smooth glide for epic timelapse and freeing me up to operate another camera.

  • Ryan says:

I would like a motorized slider that is quiet with adjustable speed on the fly. Something simple to program without doing a lot of math.

  • Ephraim says:

Olivia, you do such a great job reviewing new products, I end up buying most of them Now that I’ve seen this motorized slider release, I can think of endless ways to make use of it! This would make my slides much smoother and will hopefully have the opportunity to make an awesome movie with it.

  • Ryan Blaske says:

I made it my goal this year to try my hand at Timelapse photography and a motorized slider would make a world of difference!

  • Jared Hoy says:

pretty rad, especially since i’ve just had all my gear stolen, over 20,000$ and am trying to rebuild from zero :( full story http://igg.me/at/helpjared/x/26907

    Attachable to tripod legs
4-5 feet in length (without railing extensions)
    $500-$700 price range

The “that’d be awesome to have”:

    Railing Extension kits
AC/DC charging option so you can at home or on the go

Port to add your fluid head or other tripod heads

The “okay, that’s just freaking cool!’:

    Mobile app support
    Option for motorized pan/tilt
Remote to start/stop/adjust the speed while in use
    FREE STICKERS!!!

  • Jim N says:

I use a DSLR to video my kid’s high school marching band, concert bands, jazz bands, and color guard performances. I would LOVE to have this slider to get some terrific shots of the kids!!! Thanks Olivia, for this opportunity and for the informative YouTube videos! By the way, my birthday’s this week… hint hint :-)

  • Sam says:

Have you seen the intro montage to “House of Cards”? I want to use this slider to make beautiful time lapse sequences like that…….

  • Rob says:

I have what I believe are great ideas, but working entirely freelance, simply do not have the money for decent gear. Any slider would greatly add to the production value of my shoots and give me a better chance to be noticed among professionals in my area; even better, a motorized slider!

  • Josh Bird says:

    Hi Olivia,

A slider is a really valuable piece of film equipment, and would really help me and my friends make more professional, less amateur, looking film

    thank you

  • Mike Alfieri says:

I’d really like to see a motorized slider that is made quality first, so that accessories don’t cost an arm and a leg (i.e. extra long feet, extended rails etc.). Also a digital controller that can connect wireless and is simple and intuitive to use. If all of that is packaged in a nice sturdy and dependable slider, I would gladly fork over money for a quality slider.

  • Tea Smart says:

I’m a frequent reader of Olivia tech, I would love to get my hands on this slider, as I’ve only been freelancing a few months and can’t afford all the ideal equipment, but just to bring some movement to my shots and time-lapse videos would be a dream!

  • Matt says:

I want the ability to shoot smooth, consistent slider shots for my videos. I’d also like to start adding motion to my time lapse photography. Hopefully luck finally takes my side!!

  • Matthew Low says:

    Hey Olivia,

  • Denzel Kapadia says:

    Hey Olivia
Im with @kris film class in Sydney, Australia. It would be great to win the slider which can help improve our filming skills.

  • Petar says:

I am a young student, who has a dream of becoming a recognised film maker. Like most students my budget is little to none, and achieving my artisitc vision is quite a challenge. This slider would be a huge step in the right direction for to achieving my lifelong goals and ambitions. My class mates, teacher (@kris) and school would be tremendously grateful to be awarded this spectacular gift.

  • I like a lightweight but stable slider that’s portable. I have the Kessler Pocket and it’s heavy. I have the Edelkrone slider and all the parts get loose and shaky after even light use.

  • James Dimarco says:

Hi Olivia, my film class has a lot to prove to my school after being the first film class allowed to run, having this slider really will show the school executives how professional and beneficial the class is and it would really be an enormous help as our class has a very tight budget. I’m a student in @kris ‘s film class. Thank you!

  • Dan says:

In please. Thanks for your work and contributions

  • MatthewAdams says:

I could really use a slider that is compact to bring when my wife and I move to Uganda this summer as missionaries and advocates for disease and abuse prevention. I’d love to use the slider to make films about the rich culture of the people in Uganda and to communicate their stories in a real and moving way.

  • Kevin Muenks says:

I am working with a DIY PVC rail system. It would be great to have a motorized rail system.

  • Joe Chavez says:

Hello, Olivia. If I had the opportunity to own a slider, I would love to create beautiful cinematic movies. I have so many ideas that I would love to work on and a slider would help so much. Thank you for the chance to win and have an awesome day!

  • Chris Tutoki says:

What I want in a motorized slider is to make my videos look more professional. I do not have the money to go and spend 450-1000 dollars on one, I have to many bills. I want to be able to create mind blowing time lapse of clouds, sunrises, sunsets and much more. If I won this giveaway it wouldn’t be just helping me it would help my friends create films suitable to what we can do. At this time we do not have the equipment to do what we can do to our potential. Its not something I’d use once and then set in the corner. I’d be using it at least 3-6 times a week if not more. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to win a motorized slider.

    Thanks.

  • I been following you since I seen your dolly track fail video. Your doing a great job. I would love to see a smooth consistent non bumpy slide.

  • Thanks for the opportunity, Olivia.

  • Don says:

I want to capture something like a memory you have, when you’re standing in the background and you in another room and you’re watching someone you love just do something simple.

I feel like a slider would do that. but a motorized one would be even better.

I would love a slider! Then i could finally retire my skate board!

  • Eric says:

Will definitely be on the look out for this, I’ve already spread the word to other indie videographers to check out Olivia tech. Retweeted the contest on my Crew54 account https://twitter.com/crew54

  • In a motorized slider I would love to see solid fluid movement. The slider I own right now has its flaws and always has the risk of human error when moving along the rails. With a motorized slider I can hope to rely on the motor’s pull to make a clean slide to improve my works. As a college student it would be awesome to win this to help further my passion.

  • Anhar says:

4 things I would like in a motorized slider:
    1. Smoothness.
    2. Portability.
    3. The ability to change the speed of the sliding.
    4. Affordable price.

  • Konstantinos Gkotzos ( @oooooqp ) says:

I need fluid pans and movements. Also, a key thing in a motorized slider is portability. A vertical or diagonal use option would be good one.

  • Rory says:

    Hi Olivia;
I’m taking a class in my school teaching us how to make films, unfortunatly on our limited budget we haven’t been able to acquire the tools to allow us to learn well. Although we’re only a small class from Sydney, Australia we would really like this slider.
    Thank you.

  • Mat says:

I wold like to see a waterproof slider, so I don’t have to hold my breath so long.

  • Jeston Headley says:

I definitely think motorized is great for moving time lapses especially if you can control the speed and rotation of the camera. It would be pretty neat if it could be controlled via wi-fi. Maybe I’m asking too much.

  • Ben says:

Slider with 3-axis pan & tilt timelapse!

  • Because I am currently using roller skates on HotWheels track pulled with fishing line.

  • Nicholas says:

What do I want in a motorized slider? Just like my beautiful woman, SSSS!
    Sexy
    Smooth
    Sturdy
    Smart.
    What else does one need?

  • Stephen W says:

    Hi Olivia,

My ideal motorized slider would definitely be lightweight, very portable, have adjustable speeds, with various mounting options, and breakdown as small as possible for ease of use. It would also be great if there was a timer so it could be slow enough for time lapse photography.

  • Etienne Champagne says:

I want it to be portable, not expensive, light and long enough! I especially likes when there is some red on it also ;)

  • David says:

Looking to shoot a series of Toronto urban timelapse with this motorized slider. Doing it now on a static tripod is just not the same! Winning this would just be awesome and will 100% do some PR work on the win for Oliviatech. :)

  • HulkCommaThe says:

I would love to see set points on there, so I can go “Go to A”, then “Go to B”, and combine it with a motorized follow focus that can hit focus points, too. Make wedding slider shots faster and easier.

I would love to get it to use it shooting pre weddings video clips

  • Maximilian Bui says:

Since I don’t have a Twitter, anyway I could make that up and repost it on somewhere else?

  • Mordy says:

    Adjustable legs and light weight

  • Magnus says:

I would love to get the slider, since I am living in a over-prized country I cant afford one.

  • Nolan Grose says:

What I want from a motorized slider is just that. A motorized slider. I am definitely an amateur videographer, but am looking to boost my portfolio and pursue film and photography upon graduating this May from Baylor University. I am traveling to Europe upon graduation and would love to be able to take a slider with me while not compromising to much of my backpack’s space. I have not found a slider that I believed would be worth it to spend the $$$, while also using it enough to get my money’s worth. An affordable, durable, portable, and easy to use motorized slider is what I am looking for most!

  • What I want and what is possible aren’t necessarily related! =P

So here’s what I’m looking for right now:

    - Programmable stepper motor that works with an external timer / intervalometer
    - Pan/tilt head that syncs with timer / intervalometer
    - Affordable
    - Realtime repeatable, scalable playback – let’s just call it motion control =P

Is that too much to ask? ;)

  • i really2 want this motorized sider becasue npw, i recently uses my own DIY slider. imade it with some PVC pipes, ans Stainless pipes. it cost $30. it wors really well. but some timelapse video, i need motorized slider. because i don’t have motorized slider, i make timlapse video with manually slide inch per inch,… so igot not really smooth moving timelapse video.

with this post, i really2 hope you sent me one, so i can make more and more wonderful video with it.

    thank you very much :D

  • Javier Ayala says:

I have never owned a slider. But what I would expect from a motorized slider would be compact, smooth, repeatable movements, ease of use, portable, super quite, and versatility & strength of motor (able to mount on a tripod for vertical or ramped movement). Crossing my finger that this will be my first slider.

  • Robin A. says:

I want it to be smooth and precise. + lightweight

  • I would like a some how to make camera move vertical up and down while it slides left and right….

  • vky says:

Would be nice having a light motorized slider and able to set it automatically go back and forth … it’d be really nice ! :)

  • Brent Barrie says:

What I’d like to see in a slider?

I want a slider, that simply. Just works.

I want it to be all in one, just mount it to a tripod, and using it is so straightforward. So straightforward, even someone who’s never even seen a camera before could use it.

It should have all the parts sealed off, and should not only look simple, but the control scheme is simple, but with advanced results.

Many would call this the “iPhone” like style of the slider world.

A few programmable speeds to select from, and an option to use a simple battery system would be great.

It doesn’t have to be a next level slider, it doesn’t have to be something so over the top. But simply, it just needs to do its job. Smoothly get the camera from one point, to another in a preset timely manner.

  • romanos gkotzos says:

I can’t afford it and I want to experiment with it for some video art.

  • Renald Bourque says:

Portability, Adjustability and Decent price/performance. It would be interesting if it had a motorized panning/tilting capability along with the linear motion.

  • Kevin Labrecque says:

What do I want in a slider? Easy, everything! While that may not be feasible I would like a few things:

    1. Make it affordable. Not everyone can spend 500-600 dollars on a piece of kit.

    2. Repeatable marks. Being able to control the EXACT location of a start and stop point is awesome.

    3. Smooth motion. Otherwise what’s the point?

  • As a budget film maker, this motorized slider would be a HUGE boost my my tech!

  • Evan McAlister says:

I’m looking for a slider to help me with time-lapse movements and this would work really well. My DIY slider has taken me only so far.

  • Pol says:

just to be able to make those beautiful timelapses :)

  • Pat M Harris says:

I think the key to a motorized slider is having one that is easy to use. It should be easy to program so that you can do consistant slides over and over again. Also the motors MUST be quiet so you can still capture good audio during your scene. Must of us cannot afford ADR.

Aside from that any extra features are a plus such as a pan or tilt that is also controlled by the slider. Portability is important, but not at the sacrifice of other features.

I love oliviatech and cheesycam and would love to follow in your footsteps and create a review video of this slider!!!

  • Brandon says:

I want a motorized slider that’s configurable, light, and able to be switched to manual easily. One that is sturdy enough to be used on a single tripod, and won’t break the bank.

  • I’d like nice A-to-B presets & ramping. So I can tell it to “go” and it will start, ramp-up, move, ramp-down, and stop smoothly without me touching it, and be repeatable.

  • Nick R says:

This motorized slider would be a great way to add motion to my timelapse videos, especially for my upcoming trip to Bryce Canyon. This would give me great star lapses and motion. It would also help make motion graphics, 3d Camera Tracking, and masking easier due to the hands free and extremely smooth motion. Plus its an awesome piece of equipment that anyone could find great uses for.

Thanks for this Giveaway. Congrats to whoever wins this!

  • ChrisJ says:

MOBILITY! Out in the field capturing moments, we need a slider to go with us that isn’t 100 LBS and massive. We need one that can run off mobile power, and is simple to use. Time-lapse ability isn’t important, as most will be live shots.
We want a product to be proud of, and show off in our BTS series, as we show our viewers more of Olivia Tech and this slider, and how it works.

    Excited for the reveal…:)
    Chris

  • Chris Walsh says:

Olivia is on the short list of names for my daughter so I think I should be in the running! Especially since girls are expensive and I can’t afford a motorized slider anymore!

    • Olivia says:

@Chris Congrats!! I’m so happy for you.. you must let me know when you both have decided on a name for her. I’m be waiting in wild anticipation haha. Hope all is well with you!

  • Christian Schützner says:

I want this slider because I want to get started in filmmaking. I will need one especially for timelapse videos. A slider that costs 650$ should be perfect for that! :)
Thank you for making this giveaway, Olivia! :)

  • BmoreExposed says:

I’d use it for weddings and love stories and family lifestyle sessions. I’d also like to use it for shooting time lapsed cultural, local, and artist events in and around my city & state.. and eventually beyond.

  • My wishlist for a motorized slider: light and stable, able to mounted to a single tripod without rocking. For the motorized motion, it would be great to have a quiet motor that allowed for smooth sliding motion (starts, stops, and consistent speed) as well as a stepping motion that allows for timelapse work. Hey, a guy can dream, right?
