New Diva Ring Light – Now Dimmable

The Diva Ring Light that I love so much now comes with a Dimmer! The soft shadowless light that this Ring Light produces makes for gorgeous video or photos. If you want to see a video review I did with the older (non-dimmable) Diva Ring light (click here).

Another new addition is that the Diva Ring light now comes with BOTH 5,600 and 3,200 lamps so you’ll never have to worry about balancing your Ring Light with ambient light conditions. This model features a hotshoe in the middle of the ring for a microphone or camera, making it perfect for self-broadcasting in small or remote locations. It’s also dimmable so you won’t waste time pulling the light back and forth for the desired light intensity.

The CEL-18C comes with mounting hardware, 3200K and 5500K lamps, an AC power cord and a padded carry case.

Yeah I got the new dimable last month works great !! I love it thanks for the recommendation . I was wondering what you think would work to power this thing for outside shoots ? I don’t think the Tekkeon myPower ALL will work for this since this has different connections . Let me know if you have any ideas

    • gosh dang it!!!! I ordered the old model this morning and they shipped it off today =[
I wish I would have seen this!!! I’m all angry now lmbo

    • Does anyone know of something similar to this that is battery powered? I’d love to get something like it but most of my shooting needs to be very portable.

    • svem says:

Yeah. I would like to know as well a good battery powered version similar to this.

I’ve been looking for a way to make a ‘beauty dish’ type light for video for a while, and this might be the answer. Thank you, Olivia!
When it comes time for a new bulb, where do you get them, and how much does each one cost?

    • Daniel Longworth says:

Just got mine the other day and it works great! Thanks, Olivia. Curious, though… The box says it has a clip-on diffuser but I didn’t get one in my package. Did anybody else get one?

    • Hi there Olivia,
Based on your great review, we just ordered the dimmable Diva Light. Any suggestions on light kits that would compliment it well, or do you recommend just buying additional Divas for hairlight, etc.? Also, the Diva seems to be rated at 5,600 while flourescents are often 6,500.

Thanks and keep up the great work!

Unpacked this item from stellarlightingsystems.com tonight (purchased thru Amazon). Very satisfied with construction, dimmer, and 2 bulbs of different temps. It came with a decent quality carrying case (which can also hold the extra bulb with no problem).

The item shipped with a diffuser fabric that was white sheer synthetic fabric bordered with black fabric with velcro. The diffuser appeared to be designed for a light of smaller diameter. I tried carefully several times to mount the diffusion fabric by wrapping it around but it became obvious the fabric would not fit over the light.

The dimmer behavior surprised me. It was not a continuous dimmer, but rather a toggle knob that let you switch between full and half power.

Hi Olivia would you suggest this ring light over the FV-300?

      • Olivia says:

@Ashford I don’t know that I would choose one over the other- but if I had to, my choice would depend on what application I’d be using this light for and where I’d want to use it. The F&V is super mobile as it’s small, not easily breakable and lightweight. The Diva, on the other hand, covers a larger area and gives a different type of look to your subject. I have not tested out the throw or color on these yet in a side by side comparison yet. Maybe I can do a video on this to show how they differ. Also, as a catch light, the F&V’s will give a different look than the Diva’s will on your subject.
How are you planning to use the lights?

        • Ashford says:

My initial thought was to use the FV-300 for video and the Diva Ring Light for photography, but I’m not sure when you would use one over the other. From your reviews both seem like great lights, though I haven’t seen many examples for the FV-300 ring light. What are your thoughts on this?

@Ashford I don’t know that one has a lighting advantage over the other either. I’d check the lumen ratings for both and see which will best suit your needs. If you need this light to be portable, the F&V R-300 will probably be your very best bet. It’s small, compact, lightweight and won’t break as easily as the Diva might in transport. The diameter of the Diva is also larger so you might get a different ring look in your subject’s eyes but I think overall they’re both beautiful lights.
