Robert from juicedLink tells us all about his new juicedLink BMC366 Low-Noise Preamp For Blackmagic Cinema Camera at NAB 2013.
The BMC366 features two balanced outputs to interface to the balanced inputs on the BMCC. The juicedLink BMC366 Low-Noise Preamp For Blackmagic is very similar to the RM333 in that there are 3 XLR inputs, selective power down to preserve battery life, attenuation and audio output bracketing for camera overload protection, to name a few. What distinguishes the BMC366 from the RM333 are the additional mounting options and the additional unbalanced output for an external recorder. Used for dual-audio recording, and meter from recorder calibrated to camera needs, serving as camera meter.
BMCC Firmware v1.3 / Fixing poor frequency response in post
A new firmware upgrade was released for the BMCC (v1.3). Although they didn’t announce that there were changes to the audio, they made some improvements. Unfortunately, they also kind of broke another aspect of the audio. The video below is a really nice tutorial for how to implement equalization in post to fix a component with poor performing frequency response in your signal chain. Robert’s full blog post on this topic can be found on his blog juicedLink.com [LINK HERE].
Some additional BMC366 Low-Noise Preamp Features:
Can be calibrated to different output level from balanced outputs
48V/12V phantom power
Very small and lightweight
