JOBY GorillaPod Flexible Tripod for Compact and DSLR Cameras
Joby has a wide variety of Flexible Tripod Systems. In the video above I go out to see how the GorillaPod SLR Zoom and Focus hold up at a local playground.
The GorillaPod SLR-Zoom is built for SLR cameras with zoom lenses. This flexible tripod can handle weight up to 6.5 lbs. When using this tripod, I found that the legs were able to grip even rounded metal bars without slipping. Although this did depend on how tightly I wound the legs around the bar, the tripod never slipped for me. I had a point and shoot camera on the JOBY – Sony HX9V.

The GorillaPod Focus can carry a payload of up to 11 lbs. and is made to outfit professional camera setups with heavier zoom lenses. The quick release plate that comes with this tripod is Arca Swiss compatible and this tripod, like the SLR-ZOOM, comes with a 1/4-20″ male screw with a 3/8″ adaptor so you can swap out video or photo heads if you wish. This is a nice feature as you can modify both systems to custom fit your usage.

I was just looking at this exact model this morning. When someone said a great tripod for the floor, other odd/tight locations, and even as a shoulder rig I agree there are a lot of real uses. They recommended getting the ball head too.
@Steve Yes, I agree.. these are really great for their flexibility. JOBYs can do what most fixed tripods cannot.
