The HD HERO2 ups the GoPro benchmark with a redesign that results in strikingly enhanced image quality and ease-of-use.
Here is a list of HD HERO2 Feature Enhancements:

  • Sorry to leave a typical, kinda rude comment but…ha did you just say stick it in your shower and live stream your GoPro2? haha

Im sure alot of your followers would like that haha ;)

besides that…great review, man why cant that 120fps be 720p or 1080p

  • Stick it in the shower, and live stream… Lol, someone should start using a teleprompter! Hahaha! Great review! : )

  • Thanks for the quick review. I do a few murder weekend nights in the summer, would be great if you could show us an example of the wifi app and streaming in use when they come out. Could be a really neat addition.

well, this is one of the most suggestive, yet nonchalant video reviews I’ve ever seen. i love it. needless to say I will be getting the new version and the wifi back plate.

  • Nate says:

Can you post some FOV samples? Curious what happens when you crop into 90 deg. Nice review, thanks!

  • Lino says:

Just a little FYI on the new available FOV options on the HD HERO2…
Specifications on GoPro official website states
    • Full 170º, Medium 127º, Narrow 90º FOV in 1080p and 720p Video
However, the 3 FOVs are only available in 1080p
The only FOV available at 720p is Full 170º
I contacted GoPro Support and they confirmed it… and further said their web developers put the wrong information on their website.

  • Anton says:

    Yeah thanks Lino..
So the specs on there site HERE
are not right than (and they don’t correct the error?)
Bummer as I was interested in 90 FOV @ 60fps
Oh wel I am getting one anyway when it’s available here.

  • Mike says:

Well, whats REALLY new is the 11MP still photo feature, but it seems that no one of those who already tested the hero2 thought about providing some sample pictures.
The 5MP Pics of the Hero1 in 170° were really bad stuff and could not compete with any 50$ digicam, so id like to know if 11MP with 127° is somewhat better now…

    • ChrisH says:

I bought the Hero2 yesterday specifically for still pics, based on images I found on the Gopro website.

The image quality of this camera even at 11megapixels is staggeringly poor. You also only get the wide option @ 11mp. Noise in the image is so bad that you can’t get rid of it even in lightroom, and forget adding any sharpening to the image as it renders it worthless.

It’s going back to the store today which makes me very sad as I so wanted it to work. But it falls very short of GoPro’s claim of producing professional quality images.

      • AussieBikeBoy says:

Couldn’t agree more, bought a Hero2 two days ago and compared to the previous model the photos are so grainy and the camera shoots constantly 1 to 1.5 stops dark and has to be lighten in photoshop. This one is going back and I’m getting the previous model. Very, very disappointed in the Hero2.

  • performer_gr says:

hi, i want to ask if the problem with old GoPro in underwater shots has fixed in new one.

  • performer_gr says:

with curve lens gopro 1 it is very soft underwater. now on ebay is available a flat lens like this HERE

the diference between standard and aftermark is this HERE

i want to know if this problem fixed in gopro hero2

    • Olivia says:

Ahh, I see. Well, I haven’t done any underwater testing as of yet. This is a great idea. I’d assume it is still a bit of a soft image since the lens is still convex. I’m thinking a flat lens solution is always going to be your best option in correcting this aftermarket. I will look into testing this out!

  • Patrick says:

    Hi everyone,

We did some first underwater tests with the Hero 2 and the focus problem is still the same. Gopro did announce that they will fix that problem, but since the release of the Hero 2 there are no news on their webpage. And without a flat lens we did not had any chance to get in focus underwater images.

    Best regards

    Patrick

  • Bryan says:

For everyone curious about the GoPro underwater issue, no it has not been fixed and yes there is a solution. I have been extensively testing the BlurFix housing modification, and it works like a charm with almost no vignetting across the board.

    HERE

It is a little steep of a price, but one nice feature is you can use interchangeable UV filters adding to the quality of your GP.

  • Flavious says:

The suction cup is for the ceiling or headboard?

What kind of videos are you shooting with it???

  • Shawn says:

Olivia in your video review of the gopro 2 the case you had in your hand did not look like the factory case if its an aftermarket one can give me some info on it thank

  • Matt Douglas says:

    Hi Olivia

GREAT site, in my quest for purchasing the new GoPro2 I found it. One question: in the above video you show the waterproof housing and it has an enlarged lens. did that come standard with the gopro2?

    Cheers

    Hi!
    Just got a gopro hero2.
Unfortunately, the WVGA function seems not to be active…
    The cam is updated.

    Any suggestions?

    Much apreciated!
