The very knowledgable, Connor, from F&V gives me a look at their attractively priced LED Ring Light. The new R-300 Ring Light produces soft, continuous light upwards of 1950 Lux (approx. the same light output as a 1X1 light panel) and has a 65° beam angle that delivers a wide, even beam of light. The R-300 is perfect for portraits, interviews, or any scene calling for a soft, full light. You can also quickly modify this light with two magnetic filters (tungsten and diffusion) that snap on and off the face of the light. F&V has a newer, thicker diffusion filter that creates a softer light that not only is more diffused for a better wrap around, this light is also easier on the talent as it is softer. The R-300 has multiple power options with a built-in battery plate for portable shooting and a wide-voltage DC jack. (Sony NP-F battery or DCΦ2.5 jack with an Operating Voltage of 5.8-16.8V).
The R-300 comes as a mobile or studio kit. The Mobile Kit is under $200 and the Studio Kit with 15mm rods is under $240. This R-300 LED Ring Light is bright enough to use on light stands in the same way a 1X1 light panel would typically be used.
