Fotodiox Wonderburst High Speed Sync for Sony NEX Cameras and the Wonderburst HSS8000 for Canon- Photo Plus Expo 2012

I get to check out the Fotodiox Wonderburst High Speed Sync Systems. Jeff explains to me how their Fotodiox Pro WonderBurst NEX Radio Flash Trigger for Sony NEX Cameras works. The NEX series does not have a standard hotshoe so Fotodiox created a solution to this with the Wonderburst NEX. The system creates compatibility with Sony NEX digital cameras via the Wonderburst NEX transmitter and receiver system. You can sync as many flashes with your camera as you want to purchase receivers for.

We also take a look at the Wonderburst HHS8000. This is a 4-in-1 Radio Slave Trigger / Shutter Release Kit for Canon Pro Cameras that allows you to shoot up to 1/8000th of a second. The transmitter plugs into your camera in order to learn the camera’s information. The Wonderburst HSS8000 is also available for Canon Rebel Cameras and Nikon.

So it is my thinking on these units you can sync camera to flash with out shutter curtain issues but that the heal and toe of the flash would be cut off from exposure. So changing shutter to a shorter time also reduces your flash output requiring you to meter the flash at different syncs or shutter choice….yes????

  • Kelvin @ Fotodiox Inc. says:

Yes, the shutter speed will change the amount flash light pass through. Since the flash will be on the whole time in the duration of 1/1000 sec. The shutter is only capturing part of the entire duration. So, 1/8000 sec will be roughly about 1/8 of the power, 1/4000 will be 1/4 of the power
