Fotodiox Pro LED Light – 508A Professional 508 LED Dimmable Photo Video Light Kit

The Fotodiox LED 508A is a large panel Dimmable Photo/Video Light that ships with a full kit and carrying case. The Fotodiox Pro LED-508A is a powerful, lightweight light that uses 508 ultra bright 5600k LEDs. The daylight balanced LEDs offer full spectrum soft light for both studio photo and studio video production. The rear battery mounts allow for the option to do location shooting anywhere, even if there is no power available since this LED light accepts standard Sony batteries.

It can be powered by one or both batteries. Sony batteries are much cheaper than the V Mount batteries that other LED lights require. The rear dimmer dial allows the light to be adjusted as needed and the removable diffusion panel allows the light to be diffused as needed for most shooting scenarios. This option also allows a number of additional gels and/or diffusion cloths to be added to help control and create the perfect lighting for your situation.

In the video above, I show how the 508A can be used in broad daylight outside as a nice fill light. We then bring the light into the studio and show the light spread compared to the popular LED 312. Since this is the Dual Color LED 312, at full brightness 5600K, only half of the LEDs are powered. To have a fair comparison, we only powered the 508A at 50%. The Fotodiox 508A also comes in a Dual Color option, the LED 508AS. This light has both 5600K and 3200K LEDs. At full brightness for each temperature, only half of the LEDs are used.

What kind of light did you use in the studio. Did you color correct it or try to tweak it in post? Did you shoot it on a dslr with typical 4.2.0. color space (did i have the right punctuation?) I ask because it looks green. Thks

how does it compare to the Swistronix Torch light.. does it have a better
    light throw?

It doesn’t seem like it has quite enough power to use as an outdoor fill, however, wouldn’t a simple reflector work much better in this situation? Even a standard white bounce card would probably produce the same results.

Hey Olivia, what’s the audio setup for the outdoor test shot? sounds good!

    Hi Lev,
Can you tell me more about your torch light.. was thinking about buying one, but I get mixed reviews.. some say it’s great, and others say they hate it…
what can you tell me.. I hear the battery is very loose on the connector, does the light accidentally turn off.. does it create multiple shadows because of the led’s..

    Regards,
    Carlos..

This led light is really nice. Battery powered and bright enough. Hope there are more good led lights in NAB2013.
