Kadir shows me edelkrone’s latest brainchild, the SliderPLUS DSLR and Camera Slider. Very few companies are able to think outside of the box in the terms that edelkrone has proven to and I really admire what they’ve done with the SliderPlus+ along with their motorized control unit (to be announced).
While I was waiting for an interview with Kadir, a man by the name of Philip Bloom decided to take my first place and bump me into what now became a queue for Kadir’s introduction on the SliderPlus+. Not only did I get the big fat British elbow, I also had the pleasure of watching as Pesky Bloom was given a free SliderPLUS+. So naturally, I saw to it that Philip was made to stick around while I rolled him under the bus during the interview. Now back to this magnificent slider.
The edelkrone SliderPLUS+ comes in two versions, the shorter version being 14 inches and the longer SliderPLUSXL at 21 inches. Both are able to double in range as they dolly in and out. When pulling the camera back, the rails also retracts and they are not seen within the shots. Since the rails are shorter, this also equates to less material and a lighter overall weight.
Both SliderPLUS+ and SliderPLUSXL move as a whole giving these sliders a smoother start and stop. The more mass that travels when you operate the slider will lend to smoother and very natural starts and stops compared to the nature in which typical sliders operate.
Drag adjustments can be made quickly and conveniently for better speed control. You can also lock the trolley completely in any position with the flick of a knob, seen to the RIGHT.
Both edelkrone SliderPLUS+ and SliderPLUSXL have a port on their side to attach a motorized motion control unit- soon to be announced.camera slider, DSLR, Edelkrone, film, gear, interview, lightweight slider, NAB2013, philip bloom, sliderplus, sliderplus video, sliderplusXL, tools
