C Mount Lens For Micro 4/3 Camera

I’m crazy about Lomo Style Photos and the LensBaby Look but pretty luke warm about the prices on these. The whole blurred edges, image distortion, shallow depth of field touch is artsy meets versatile. C-mount is a format commonly used for the old 16mm videocams and closed-circuit televisions. Surveillance cameras take different lenses, some being as shallow as f/1.4, who knew! Here’s a look at this technique.

Samples from GF2 with CMount 35mm and 25mm

You can purchase both a Lens and a mount ring to adapt them to your camera and for just under $40 bucks to capture really beautiful and stylized images. These lenses will also work well with Sony NEX cameras. The most popular lenses are the 35mm and 25mm, found below.

Remember if you use these on the GH2, you can use the 1:1 crop to remove the vignetting. Of course you’ll end up with a longer focal length, but that might not be such a bad thing.

  • Indeed, these lenses are fun to use. I bought a Fujian 35mm f/1.7 from a seller in ebay (with the adapter and everything) some time ago, but the thing is I didn’t got the chance to use it much : I took it to a motorcycle trip, and on the second night I found out I left the lens loose on my bag and the vibration literally disassembled it, all the elements and components just spilled on the table when I opened the bag. I believe there were some loose screws on the mount that, when rattled for too long unchecked, just dropped out : /
Well, at least it is cheap, and I’m going to buy another one, of course. Though, I’ll check if the screws are tight this time : )
