A Less Expensive Alternative to Panasonic’s DMW-FL360 TTL Flash

A friend of mine, Xela (CLICK HERE FOR HER BLOG), asked me about a flash for her Panasonic G2. I had to do a little digging as I really have never looked into a flash for Panasonic before. I was surprised to find that the options out there were pretty sparse. First I ran into the Yongnuo Speedlite Yn460. This looks like a pretty basic flash and the reviews out there on the web were.. well, there were none. One of Panasonic’s flash solutions is their Panasonic DMW-FL360 External Flash (GN36). The customer reviews were all positive but the price is on the hefty side. In my experience there is often a less expensive alternative to name brand gear, so I kept digging.
Enter the Zeikos ZE-SB1000. Alas, this flash looks like it has some potential! Amazon rendered one lonely but positive review for this flash so I checked in with B&H for reviews. The testimonials I found on B&H were less than impressive but not terrible. Still, I don’t feel comfortable personally recommending the Zeikos without trying it out first hand. Xela, unless my trusty readers can recommend a flash for your G2, for now I’ll say try the Zeikos out (you can alway return it) or shell out a car note for the Panasonic option.

The panasonic’s are overpriced for sure. I’d look into the Olympus flashes, like the FL36R. I haven’t picked one up yet, but I’d start the research HERE
The mu-43 forums have always yielded good information for me when search for photography related things on the MFT system.
Luke, thank you!

Awesome, thanks, Phil!
Actually, been using this HERE for quite some time. it’s less than US$100 and is a highly popular 4/3 cheap flash alternative. Even comes in “white” color. For it’s price, it’s very very good.

I agree, the choices are very limited for the m4/3 flashes- but the good ones have been listed here in this thread.
